Guest guest
Dear all, Pyhton is Dattathreya's next Guru. Dattathreya is so observant and looks at everything around him, studies their behaviour, analyzes and finds something worth learning and practicing. This nature of Dattathreya itself is a lesson to us. (Of course Dattathreya is nobody other than God himself because Anasuya and Athri asked for a son Like Him and nobody is like Him except Himself.) Python is supposed to be a slow moving creature. Even when it is hungry, it does not panic and run around like other animals. It stays calmly in one place and whatever comes on it's way, it pounces on them and swallows slowly without even worrying about the taste or quality or quantity. When the python is not hungry, it does not even look at his prey. Even if the most desirable prey is in front of it, it ignores and stays calm and cool. How can we translate this behaviour into a positive virtue and adapt for human beings? Dattathreya says: 1. Man in search of knowledge about Aatma or soul, should refrain from running after material pleasures. He should be like a python. He should see food as something to sustain his life and should be satisfied with what ever he gets. Rest of the time should be spent in contemplating about his own goal of attaining moksham or salvation. 2. Also just out of desire and possessiveness, we should not collect all material things for our comfort. Material comforts and happiness are transient and we should strive for eternal happiness by completely surrendering to the Lord.
