HARI AUMThese stories enliven one's life effectively. It is a saying-"Shortest distance between a human being and TRUTH is a story". This is the 'key' for the traditions of this country being still alive-the loads of stories. FACTOIDS increases the stress. So let us have lots of stories. How about a NAVANEETHAM exclusively with stories?? I am sure this will be the best issue of "NAVANEETHAM. " Hope Savithriji and Nandakumarji will take the lead.RegardsBalagopalNARAYANA NARAYANA NARAYANA--- On Sat, 5/7/08, Savitri Puram <savitriopuram@ gmail.com> wrote:Savitri Puram <savitriopuram@ gmail.com>[Guruvayur] Namasthe- Sukabrahmarshi- 3Saturday, 5 July, 2008, 4:35 PMDear all,King Janaka

(Sitadevi' father) was also known as Vidheha. The meaning of Videha is " one who is without body, which means that one who has transcended the three sheaths Annamaya, Praanamaya and Manomaya Kosha; and has been established in Aananda maya kosha -Asmi Vritti or "I am THAT.This is one step away from Moksha. (Once you go beyond Aanandamaya kosha, there is no more the feeling of "I" and you get salvation). Janaka had attained supreme stage of knowledge. He was acting in routine life as 'leaf of lotus plant floating in water with out getting wet' i.e. not attached to any activity or the result of any activity. He was that rarest of the rare yogis, who attained liberation, even while living in human body. This is called called 'videha mukti' or jeevanmukthi. For these reasons, Vyaasa Deva wanted his son to learn the knowledge of Brahmam from Janaka Maharaja. So he sent Sukadeva to Mithila where King Janaka lived. King Janaka

knew that Suka was coming. When Sukadeva reached his palace gate, instead of welcoming him, King Janaka instructed his people not to open the gate for Sukadeva and to completely ignore him.Three days passed like that and nobody ever cared him. He just sat at he gate practically with no emotion on his face.He was not given any food, water or shelter. On the fourth day, King Janaka himself came with his ministers and gave him a very grand welcome. He was given the best room in the palace and beautiful ladies attended on him. Sukadeva accepted everything with out a tint of emotion. His expression was exactly the same as when he was waiting outside for three days for King Janaka to come and take him inside. He was bathed and dressed in royal clothes by beautiful ladies and fed with the most delicious food. Nine days passed like this.On the tenth day, King Janaka gave a cup filled to the brim with milk to Sukadeva and asked him to go round

the palace durbar hall seven times with out spilling a single drop on the floor. To distract his attention, King had arranged music by great musicians, dance by the best dancers in the hall during that time. To every body's surprise, Sukadeva went around seven times and came back to the starting place with out spilling a single drop of milk. He was the least distracted by any of the sound, light and talk and his expression was the same through out. He returned the cup to King Janaka and King said" Sukadeva, your father sent you here to learn Brahma Jnaanam. I was testing you to see how advanced you are by ignoring you the first three days, then welcoming you with all pomp and ceremony, bathing and dressing you by beautiful ladies, and finally trying to distract you while doing the task given. You faced all of them with the same detachment or you showed equanimity in every situation. You are already a Brahmajnaani. I have nothing to teach

you."So two Jeevanmukthaas glanced each other, smiled and Sukadeva departed for the mission of spreading Brahmajnaanam among Ajnaanis.Pranaamam to Janaka Maharaja and Sukadeva!Regards and prayerssavitriMeet people who discuss and share your passions. Go to http://in.promos. / groups/bestofyah oo/
