Guest guest
Dear all, 18 bean soup is very healthy and delicious. It has the flavor of all the 18 different lentils. Different type of proteins, iron and minerals present in them make it very healthy. Body digests the soup, absorbs the protein and rejects the roughage not used in the body building. Mahabharatha is a soup of life which contains 18 ingredients too. There are stories showing all the 9 rasaas: shringaara, haasya, shanta, roudra, veera, karuna, bhayaanaka and bhibhatsa. Then there are stories illustrating 6 ari shadvargaas or 6 inner foes :kama, krodah, lobha, moha, mada and maatsarya. It is also a story of 3 types of people saatwic people, raajasic people and thaamasic people. (9+6+3=18) So we should read Mahabharatha, digest it and absorb all good lessons. Learn from the story that following the adharmic path will lead to complete destruction. Vyaasdeva advices, " please accept dharma and reject adharma. You will succeed " . ( " Yadi haasthi thadanyathra, yannehaasthi na thath kvachit " meaning what ever you see in this world is in Mahabharatham, what ever is not in Mahabharatham, you will not see anywhere else). What happens when we evaporate milk? All the water content evaporates and thick cream of milk remains. Try evaporating Ramayanam. When all the stories are evaporated, the Mahavaakyam " Sathyam vada, Dharmam chara " meaning say truth and follow Dharma remains. When we boil rice with water for a while, rice gets cooked, becomes soft. When we strain the excess water, soft fluffy rice is ready in minutes. When you soak and boil our mind in the Bhakthirasam of Bhagavatham, our kamam, krodham, moham, lobham, madam and matsaryam dissolves into the water of Bhakthi. Impure mind gets cooked, gets purified and becomes soft. When the excess water contaminated with the inner foes is removed, then the mind becomes tolerant, forgiving and above all, sees God in all entities. Bhagavaan says: " A soft and pure mind becomes my abode. My swadhaamam (permanent abode) is not Vaikundham, but it is the pure mind of devotees " . Regards and prayers Savitri
