The Dakshinayanam will set in. The Kataka-sankranthi is at 23.27 nazhikas on the 16th and the tharpanam for the dakshinayana punyakalam is on 16th July. The month of Katakam (Adi) is also known as Ramayana Masam and the parayanam of Ramayanam is undertaken for the whole month. Adi is not considered an auspicious month for mangala-karmas and people utilise the month for prayer, Bhagavat Seva etc. Those who are performing the Parayanam of Ramayanam during the month are reminded to keep reserved, a place in the form of a palakai (wooden plank decorated with Kolam) specially to seat Anjaneya who will invariably bew present during the time. I have heard people telling that we should not do Ramayana parayanam during that time and we should do it either during the day or at night. Is it like that? One will have to spend the full day in performing the parayanam. So, do your usual prayers, and especially to Lord Rama during the Sandhya time, and if possible during other times, take up the parayanam of Ramayanam. Regards KVG.
