Guest guest
Namasthe, When I was young, my father used to tell this story and he told us that Yudhishtira's words were not sathyam or it was only half sathyam. So he had to suffer the consequence of saying this half sathyam. Even though he did not have to suffer the punishments of hell, he had to see the narakam and that itself was a punishment for the kind soul. This means that he actually deviated from truth and half sathyam cannot be considered as truth. So he had to suffer the consequence also. Telling this story, he used to tell us " kaliyaayum poli parayaruthu " means " even for fun, do not tell a lie " because Truth is God. Probably we can justify the appropriateness of saying untruth or semitruth applied to material situations , but spiritually it is in appropriate to say semitruth or untruth. This is my humble opinion.
