Guest guest
Dear all, It is interesting to see how many quadruplets represents the four brotherss of Ayodhya. One Srirama is incarnation of Vishnu himself. Lakshmana is incarnation of the great serpenbt Aadisheshan Bharatha is the incarnation of Sudarshana Chakram Sathrunghna is the inarnation of Conch shell or Shamkhu. Two There is another version which says they are the avataars of four vedaas. Srirama is incarnation of Rig-Veda. Lakshmana, the close follower of Srirama is the incarnation of Yajurveda. Bharatha, who always sings Srirama's glory ( he sang it continuously for 14 years) is the incarnation of Samaveda Satrughna who obeys the command of other three brothers is the incarnation of Atharva veda. Three. Another interesting explanation is of Pranavam. The Praanavaam AUM itself is Sri Rama. First letter A is Lakshmana Second letter U is Bharatha Third letter M is Sathrughna Four. One more which says Srirama represents Dharma, Lakshmana represents Artha, Bharatha represents Kama and Sathrughna represents Moksha. Whatever they represent, we know that Rama's story purifies our mind and clears our thoughts, melts our hearts, and soaks us in Bhakthi. Guest guest
Om Namo Narayanaya Namaskaram Savitri ji Is not Shatrughna associated with Sudarshana chakram? For example, Sudarshana chakram is more associated with the Shatrugna temple which is part of the Nalambalam in Kerala. Sudarshana mantra is the one used at Shatrugna temple. The melshanti at this temple told me so. One important vazhipadu here is to offer a Sudarshana chakram at the sobhana padi of the Lord, after prayers, which is believed to be an offering to heal and cure. Another important vazhipadu is Sudarshana pushpanjali. Baratha is Sangameswaran. Is He not associated with the conch? Even 2 days ago, I was on this Nalambala yatra on my way back from Sabarimala before I reached Guruvayur. What surprises me to this day is why did our elders teach us (is it because they also did not know this?) only about Sri Rama as Almighty and His brothers were never accorded 'status' of a God, though divinity was associated with them? But today Nalambala yatra is gaining momentum. There is great activity at each of these temples. Undoubtedly each of these kshetrams have great saanidhyam. I have been there earlier too. Take Bharata kshetram at Irinjalakuda. The uruli used for nivedyam has only one 'ring' (handle) on one side to be used to lift it. The other side is believed to be lifted by Sri Anjaneya. Though I read this many years ago, I got this re-confirmed again at the temple kitchen now. I believe science fails at one point. Om Sri Raamaaya Namah Om Sri Lakshmanaya Namah Om Sangamesaaya Namah Om Shatrughnaaya Namah The more knowledgeable may pardon me for any errors that might have crept into this mail. Best wishes R. Guest guest
Dear Kasturi Ranganji, What you said is true and I have heard and read both ways. When I saw your mail, I did some more reading to see whether any specific verse in Valmiki Ramayanam or Adyatma Ramayanam by Vyaasa deva tells about this. But I could not find any sloka explaining this part. But in the interpretation or purport by Dr. Hnaumantha Rao, he mentions that as per Valmiki Ramayana, (I am quoting His words:) " This is a PURNA AVATAR ( Complete incarnation) Rama of Mahavishnu himself, Lakshmana that of Adhisesha (couch) Satrugna the aspect of Panchajanya (conch) and Bharatha the aspect of Sudarsana (Chakra). " Also one encyclopaedia tells the same thing. I have given the link below. " Bharatha is considered to be born in the aspect of the Sudarshana Chakra, the most famous of Vishnu's Panchayudhas. " http://www.nationmaster.com/encyclopedia/Bharata-(Ramayana) But what you said about the Naalambalam also makes very much sense to me. It is strange that I did not even look up before writing. I have heard Bharatha as sudarsana Chakra's incarnation since childhood. So it did nto occur to me to do somemore reading. But now I saw in several places including Bhaktaranjini translation that Bharatha is samkhu and Sathrugna is chakra. Dear Ranganji, thanks for bringing this. There is every chance that I am wrong. I will try to do more research and we can ask KVGji also about this. It would have been nice to see the verse in Valmiki Ramayanam or adhyatma Ramayanam to completely erase our doubt. Dear devotees, I may have mentioned that wrong. Please excuse me for the same. Regards and prayers Savitri
