HARI AUM

He works in an office in Mumbai. This man's devotion to his God Lord Panduranga

is unflinched. He is a 'varkari' and never misses a 'vari' ('vari' tradition of

Maharshtra synonymous with Pandharpur yatra). Drums the 'dhol', sings kirtans of

'vithobha' skillfully with the cymbals. He catches the same train and

compartment to be with his group to sing bhajans on his way to and return from

work. Honesty & modesty are his second nature, devotion being the first. Mind

has started to withdraw 'inwards'. But problems persists. Realities stare. Deep

urge to resolve the conditions surge, but sadly doesn't have a foothold. None

told him the importance of 'karma yoga'. Hence the 'karma' part was negelected

and remained ineffective. Over a period of time this even weakens the intensity

of his 'devotion', and LIFE forces him to continue a life of mediocrity

dithering on the fringes of economic deprivity. He quietly passes the baton to

his son who begins the journey,

as an ardent devotee waiting enthusiastically for the right train and

compartment where the group has kept a place for him. He is also, like his

father, blissful of the 'yoga' of his 'karma'. He doesn't know how to empty

them. Everytime LIFE stares at him he looks the other way. He is infact getting

closer to 'him', but for his incomplete 'karma'. The moment the mass of people

realise the effective alignment of karma, jnana and bhakthi life will begin to

bloom. Till then the nation remains in a confused state of boom and doom

repeating the same ironies of life generation after generation.

This vital transformation is all what Bhagavan urges one to realise through

his'gita'. The beginning of this process begins when one starts reflecting upon

his words in 'gita'. 'Swadhyaya' is the only way to assimilate.

NARAYANA NARAYANA NARAYANA

This year's 'vari' during Ashadi Ekadashi was on 14th July 2008

He is lovingly called names like Pandrinath, Panduranga, Pandhairiraya, Vithai,

Vithoba, Vithu-mauli, Vitthalgururao by his devotees. But the well-known and

commonly used names are Pandurang / Panduranga and Shri Vitthal / Vithal. The

word Vitthala is said to be derived from the Kannada.
