Dear all,

We all know that Hanumanji lived in Threthayuga when Vishnu Bhagavan took avataar as Lord Rama. Then Lord Raama blessed Hanumanji to be a chiranjeevi (one who lives for a long, long time). So after Lord Raamaa's return to Vaikundham, Hanumanji went and started meditation and japa in Gandhamaadana mountain.

But he appeared twice during Dwaapara yuga or during Krishnaavathaara. Once he came to encounter and humble the pride of Bhima when he was going to fetch the flower Kalayaanasougandhikam for Draupadi and one time to humble the pride of Arjuna.

Arjuna and Hanumanji got in to an argument becasue Arjuna claimed that he could have effortlessly built the bridge to Lanka (sethubandhanam) by himself with his arrows where as Lord Raama took the help of thousands and thousands of monkeys. Hanumanji was a little annoyed and told Arjuna that if he could build a bridge that could withstand his weight then he would sit on the flag of Arjuna's chariot during Mahabhaaratha war. Then Arjuna told that if the bridge he made with arrows was broken by the weight of Hanumanji he would give up his life.

Arjuna built the bridge in a few minutes and Hanumanji stepped on it. The whole bridge broke into thousands of pieces. Arjuna was about to give up his life and Lord Krishna came to his rescue. He asked Arjuna to build it again and He touched the bridge with his hand and asked Hanunmanji to step on that. Hanumanji stepped, jumped and applied all the power, nothing happened. It was intact. Then Hanumanji knew that Krishna and Raama were the same . So Hanumanji said he would decorate the flag of the chariot of Arjuna who is dear to His Lord Raama in the form of Krishna. (Hanumanji's all equations are expressed as a function of Lord Raama)

When the war was going on, Hanumanji was sleeping and somebody asked him why he was sleeping with out watching the war. He said that the war was too boring. He continued: " This war is nothing when compared to Raama-Raavana war. That was much more lively and exciting because Bhagavan himself was fighting with Raavana. Here Bhagavan is only watching and not directly involved. Anything with out Bhagavan's direct involvement does not interest me any more. "

Then he went back to sleep until the chariot was about to burn and Krishna and Arjuna came down from the chariot. At that time Hanumanji descended and went back to Gandhamaadana mountain and continued his Raamanaama japam.

Regards and prayers

Savitri
