Guest guest
Dear all, This is a story of optimism. A wise man had four sons. They had a very good communication and hearty relationship among them. The wise father always taught them big lessons with practical examples as much as possible. Here is one lesson he taught. He called the first son in the beginning of the year- January- the coldest season. He told him to go and look at a big fruit bearing tree tree in their garden and give a description of the tree. He came back and told that the tree had lost some leaves and even the leaves left on the tree did not look fresh. In his opinion it was a gloomy and unhappy tree waiting for some good things to happen. Second son was sent to look at the same tree in Vasantham or spring season. He came back and said that the tree was covered with fresh buds of leaves and small flowers with the nice smell of upcoming fruits. The tree looked lively and seemed like enjoying the spring breeze. Third son went in summer to see the same tree and his comment was different from the first two. He said that the tree looked very beautiful with all the small fruits hanging from every branch. Lot of birds, butterflies and beetles flew circumambulating the tree and the tree looked fantastic. The fourth son went in early fall and his observation was that the tree was filled with big green and yellow fruits. The tree looked like a symbol of fulfillment, satisfaction and kindness and also a little tired with all the old leaves. It seemed like the tree was enjoying the way the birds, flies, beetles, squirrels and crows feasted on the ripe fruits served by it. Father heard all the remarks and told them that all the four of them were right. Each one saw only on season of the tree. He continued: " Dear sons. I want you to learn one lesson from your observations. You could not judge this tree by one season. Likewise, you cannot judge a person or yourself by only one phase of life. Favorable and unfavorable situations often decide people's reaction and do not count them that as their character. Often it is only a reaction and judging a person with out knowing his reactions to different situations is not desirable. So, if you see somebody angry, rude, gloomy or depressed, give him a few more chances to prove his goodness. If you give up in winter, what about all the goodness of spring, summer and fall? This is true when you are going through a hard time. Persevere through the pain and with the blessings from God, let the pains become gains. Often Urvashi shaapam becomes upakaaram or a blessings come in disguise and that is the Leela of Bhagavan. Everybody has Easwaraamsham or a spark of the divinity of God and nobody is bad by birth. It is only circumstances and how we react to circumstances. Remember this and you will never pass a judgment too soon, never hate or never be prejudiced against anybody and never complain about the situations you are in . None of us are second best, all of us are the best in God's eyes. Guest guest
That was such a wonderful story, Savithriji.A fact that many of us forget. Often I myself have judged people based on their reactions, not even thinking what the situation might have been that drove them to do so.A valuable lesson indeed that we can teach ourself as well as our kids. wishes, Sangeetha--- On Wed, 9/17/08, Savitri Puram <savitriopuram wrote: Savitri Puram <savitriopuram[Guruvayur] Namasthe- The best in God's eyesWednesday, September 17, 2008, 6:14 AM Dear all, This is a story of optimism.
