Narada muni asked Vishnu bhagavan to explain to him the importance of sajjana samsargam. So Vishnu bhagavn told Narada muni to go to Earth and meet a worm sitting on a branch of a tree! That worm would be able to explain to him about sajjana samsargam! Narada maharshi obediently came to earth and approached the worm. But a strange thing happened. As soon as Narada started talking, the worm died. So he went back to Vaikundham and told about his inability to get advice from the worm.

 

Then Bhagavan told him to go and meet a young calf born to a cow in another region of earth. Narada went there and as soon as Narada approached the calf it fell down dead! Again he went and informed about this mishap to Bhagavan. Bhagavan smiled and asked him to learn about sajjana samsargam from a new born baby born to a king in another region of earth. Even though frustrated, Narada Muni obediently went to that palace and waited outside until late night. When everybody was asleep, he went to the inner quarters and approached the new born baby of the king. To Muni's surprise, the baby welcomed him with a hearty smile and told him that he was actually waiting for Narada Muni.

 

Then he told Narada muni that he was an example of the positive effect of sajjana samsargam. Narada Muni did not understand what he meant. He continued that he was the worm on the tree and with Narada muni's nearness and by breathing the air exhaled by Muni, he could get rid of his paapam that led him to lead the wretched life of a worm. Then he was born as a calf and again by Muni's nearness his left over paapam to live as an animal was removed. So the calf died and he was born as a human baby in the palace.

 

He continued: " Mune! I am very happy now. Bhagavan has given me a human janma and he has blessed me with the power of discrimination and free will. So I have the freedom to live a righteous life and purify myself. Animals live by instinct and they do not have the ability to discriminate between good and bad. . With the nearness, influence or samsargam of a Mahaatma like you, I got this janma with out going through the experiences of a helpless worm and calf for a long time.

I pray you to bless me with continuous sajjana samsargam in this janmam also " .

 

Narada Muni was convinced and was happy to bless him. He went back to Vaikundham and prostrated at Lord's feet and continued his journey through the fourteen worlds spreading the glory of God.

 

Let Guruvayurappan bless all of us to have continuous sajjana samsargam!

It is a nice story, also what I feel to say is that we should not take as story and should treat this as a lesson for every human being those who do not have the contact with satsangs in their life.This story I have heard some times back when Sri Damodara Dheekshithar(grandson of Bhrammasri Sengalipuram anantha rama dheeshithar) cane to madurai for giving upanyasam on SrimathNarayaneeyam.
