Guest guest
Tratak .... Meditation for Eyes and Mind Tratak is the practice of sitting in a meditation posture and gazingat an object. We gaze without blinking our eyes. When the eyes startto cry, we pause and start all over again. After some time, we close our eyes and try to visualize the form inour mind. If it is not clear we open our eyes and start again.Different objects are prescribed by different Gurus. Candle with stillfame, picture of Guru or Deity, ocean, Moon, etc. How long we should sit, how far away the object should be place, etc.can be found by consulting a Yogi or Guru.Physiologically, the optic nerve is benefited improving the power ofconcentration. At a subtle level, we increase our will power and importantly takenthe qualities of the image we are staring at. staring at a candle in a dark room is verygood for improving memory. Here's more:According to the 'Hatha Yoga Pradipika' of Swatmarama, "Tratakaeradicates all eye diseases, fatigue and sloth and closes the doorwaycreating these problems. It should carefully be kept secret like agolden casket." Trataka benefits not only the eyes but a whole rangeof physiological and mental functions. It is therapeutic indepression, insomnia allergy, anxiety, postural problems, poorconcentration and memory.Physiologically, trataka relieves eye ailments such as eye strain andheadache, myopia, astigmatism and even early stages of cataract. Theeyes become clear bright, able to see the reality beyond appearances. with regards dilip

saranyakrishnan
Ya even i am practicing trataka regularly. I like it very much. But candel is not best for that. the lamp we use for pooja is better. Because the light(diya) must be straight to our eyesight till we finish it. So Pooja lamp is better for that candel will go down slowly.
