Guest guest
Dear all, Mahagowri On the eighth day of Navaratri, Durga Devi is worshipped as Mahagowri. She is Nithya baalika, who is always eight years old. Parvathi Devi did severe penance to get Lord Shiva as her husband. Her complexion became very dark with the severe austerities, fasting, lack of sleep and nutritious food. At the end, Lord Shiva was pleased and appeared in front of her. He washed her body with the holy water from Ganga and her complexion changed and she became a very fair and beautiful woman. Because of her fair complexion she is known as Gowri. She is personification of calmness and serenity. She has four hands and her vaahana is ox. It is said that worship of Mahagowri wipes out even the negative results of praabdha karma because she is the Universal mother who forgives and forgets their devotees' mistakes. Naraadhithaasi vidhinaa vividhopachaarai:Kim rooksha chintana parai: na krutham vachobhi:Shyaame thwameva yadhi kinchanamayyanaadhe,Dhanye krupamuchitham amba param thavaiva. Oh blessed Mother, Syama, I have never worshipped thee,Following the rules laid out for worship,And also I have abused you by using cruel words,And still if you have a little mercy on this orphan,It is only because of your kindness towards me. Amme Naaraayana ! Devi Naaraayana! Lakshmi Naaraayana! Bhadre Naaraayana! Regards and prayers savitri ..
