Guest guest Posted October 20, 2008 Report Share Posted October 20, 2008 OM NAMO NARAYANAYA , It was really shocking to know from my regular phone calls to Guruvayoor that a piece of burned cigarette was found in a packet of Appam received by a Devottee from the Nivedyam Counter of the temple. Though the concerned devottee promply made a complaint to the authorities,no quick action was taken - may be to hush up the matter ,but finally the four Keezhshanthis on charge for Making Appams and the Warrier - in charge of the KALAVARA ( store room )got suspended . A similar incident was reported a decade ago when a piece of burned beedi was found in the Neypayasam and after a farcial enquiry it was reported as came from the jaggery pack. A few years ago a similar incident was reported from Shabarimala when a rat's tail was recovered from the Aravana pack. Such incidents will defenitely have an adverse impact on the minds of the devottees . Since the prasadams are distributed on behalf of the Lords , at most care should be taken for their preparation by the concerned personnel and maintain hygenity and purity of it. In Guruvayoor what followed was a Go slow attitude by the other keezhshanthis in order to express their solidarity and sympathy towards their fellow shanthis . They didn't prepare the Neypayasam the next day till the Jaggery was verified by the concerned authorities. Worst to follow was - The choroon of so many innocent kids - who came to taste the Bhagwans' prasadam for the first time in their life was delayed and they had to wait long , due to the absence of Neypayasam which is an integral part of the Choroon feast. Thousands of Devottees arrive at Guruvayoor daily to have a glimpse of the Mayakkannan to get some sort of solace for their problems and if such avoidable incidents make them suffer for no mistakes of them what these helpless lots will have to do ? When politicians and the concerned individuals go hand in glove, onlookers are deprived of their rights, There are remedies. appointments to the Devaswom Board should only be done after rigid background check' Those who use alcohol and smoke should be banned. Background checks should establish good character and non-indulgence in criminal activities. Only an independent panel of devout individuals should make the selection. As in most well to do temples in Guruvayoor this is not the case. There is no bhakthi in the minds of many of them and they have only pure greed for money and power as well as callousness towards the Bhakthas. I am sure when the time is ripe HE will destroy these Asurans! Dear Devotees , It is unfair to blame Guruvayoorappan for the shortcomings in Guruvayoor . *Bhaktavalsalan* has manifested Himself as Guruvayoor-Deity to reciprocate with His devotees and accept service from them . In the Deity form , Bhagavan requires His temple to be protected by His devotees . Unfortunately almost all of the recent Devaswom Administrators and majority of the Devotees have not fulfilled their duties . Atheist politicians and Offficials managed to take over the temple administration only due to the lack of response from the Devotees . Majority of the Devotees think that , it is entirely Bhagavan's responsibility to run the temple activities . ( As if He should appear in a human form to perofrm the routine administrative functions including law and order ) . When shortcomings occur, handful of ardent local devotees do raise their voice against it , however, the remaining majority discourage the former with negative remarks such as " personal involvement in Gurvayoor temple matters is not Bhakti-yoga " ! . Shameless breach of Promise by Devaswom Board. In the latest * Ashtamangalya Devaprasnam* ( AMD) , Bhagavan had revealed specific information with evidence on the Sinful-irregularities and it's Remedial measures . It must be remembered that many of His recommendations given in previous AMDs were never implemented . Keeping it in mind, the Tantri Chennas Raman Namboothirippadu , before giving his mandatory consent for AMD , demanded and obtained a prior commitment from the current Devaswom board to implement fully the recommendations of the new AMD . However, the faithless Devaswom authorities shamelessly ignored those commitments. In reality , they never expected the AMD to reject their ambitious "Temple-breaking wishes" such as Providing entry to non-Hindus , Permitting Churidar, Sidelining the Tantri , Diversion of temple funds for "Secular" (irreligious) local schemes etc . Consequently , they have abandoned vital requirements of Bhagavan, such as Replacement of the defective Dwaja-stambham , Prohibition of Churidar , Construction of Shelters for aged Devotees, Installation of Veda teaching Institution, etc which must be completed by 31-Dec-08 . How would the atheist Politicians and their Agents in power even look at such pro-Vedic measures , when the majority Devotees themselves don't care about it ?. Sincerity of Traditional Employees and Ardent Local Bhaktas Most of the traditional Guruvayoor-staff including Tantris , Poojaris and supporting personnel are loyal to Bhagavan . They are performing *Sva-dharma* ( prescribed duties) for Bhagavan , without fear of favor , in accordance with the *Kshetra-Acharams*. In order to maintain the sanity of the temple, they are forced to fight continuously with the Political-Board and it's Mafia Contractors/Suppliers . In such testing times , it is the invaluable support of the handful of ardent local Guruvayoorappa-Bhaktas that is saving them being crushed . May Sree Guruvayoorappan strengthen the hands of these loyal Servants ! .
