Guest guest
Namaste Sastriji and other Gurudevs! That indeed is a beautiful simile! I have never thought about cloud coming into existence because of the sun and then covering the sun. Such similes help us to understand difficult concepts of Sanatana Dharma. This is one reason why it is important to be near wise people like Sastriji. My pranams to you!Hari Om! Chith Puram On Sat, Nov 1, 2008 at 10:09 PM, S.N. The cloud is formed by water evaporating from the sea due to the heat of the sun. The cloud thus owes its origin and existence to the sun. But the same cloud conceals the sun from our view. At the same time, the cloud is visible to us only because of the light of the sun behind it. Similarly, this world has arisen from Brahman which is its cause. But it prevents us from knowing Brahman because our sense-organs are always directed towards the world. The sense-organs can experience only objects outside us, but not the Atma which dwells within us, which is identical with Brahman. It is the Atma that gives the sense-organs the capacity to see the objects in the world. The sense-organs are insentient and they get sentiency only from the Atma which is pure consciousness. Thus the world owes its origin and existence to Brahman, it conceals Brahman from us, and we are able to experience the world only because of Brahman. In this way the comparison between the cloud and the world is clear. S.N.Sastri
