Dear all,

Once Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsar was teaching young children about the qualities of a devotee. He told them that a devotee should never be proud of anything. We should give credit to Bhagavan for all our achievements because with out Bhagavan's blessings none of our efforts will bring desired results. A devotee should never be proud of anything one owns like money, good looks, intelligence, position etc because everything is given by God and He can take those away from us any moment.

Then one smart boy told Shri Ramakrishnaji : " Master, I want to be proud of at least one thing. Please tell me what I can be proud of. Can I be proud of my cute little brother or my beautiful mom ? "

Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsar told: " Son, you can be thankful to God for those blessings and all the other blessings he has bestowed on you. Please understand that being thankful is different than being proud. But I will tell you one thing you can always be proud of. You can take pride in the fact that you are a servant of God and his devotees. This pride is the only possession of a devotee. God will never take away that pride from you. In reality that pride of serving God and devotees makes you divine enough to worship the divinity in yourself and everybody around you " .

He later became a disciple of Shri Ramakrishna Paramahamsar and remained as a servant of God and his devotees.

Regards and prayers

Savitri
