Dear all,

Today is Naaraayaneeya Dinam. I am humbly sharing a short real life story Naamaacharyan Aanjam Nambudiri told in one of his articles about Naama Maahathmyam. Let the Naaraayaneeya Paaraaynam today and everyday by devotees all around the world bring harmony and peace in the world and make the devotees closer to Lord!

When a lighted lamp is kept at the entrance of a house, it's light will spread both inside and outside the house. Tongue is at the entrance of our body and if we keep a lighted Naamasamkeerthana lamp on our tongue, that light will illuminate both our inside as well as outside. It illuminates the heart of the person who chants the namam as well as people around him.

There was a person who lived near Guruvayur temple. He took bath in the Rudra theertham and had darshan everyday. But he did not believe in nama samkeerthanam. Those days naamaachaaryan Aanjam Nambudiri conducted naamasamkeerthanam everyday and lot of people took part in that. This person would walk in front of the naamajapam hall and never participated in that. So one of his friends asked him and even tried to force him to join the naamajapam. But he was very adamant and laughed at it saying it was really a " show of Bhakthi " .

Months passed and every night he went to bed guilty for not taking part in the naamajapam. Everybody stopped inviting him for naamajapam and his guilt increased. One day he was sleeping and he felt somebody was asking him to chant " Narayana, Narayana, Narayana. " In his sleep, he started chanting and he woke up chanting " Narayana " . He felt that his life had changed and when he closed his eyes again, he saw a beautiful lamp glowing with in him. He kept chanting and he ran to the temple theertham. He took a dip and ran to the temple and fell prostrate at Bhagavan's feet chanting " Narayana,Narayana " at the top of his voice.

All the devotees who knew him were surprised to see him chanting so loud and they all chanted with him. After chanting there for a while, he ran in to the naamajapam hall and started chanting namam. Nobody asked any questions and he had no answer except " narayana " namam. That day's namajapam was louder than any other day and since then this devotee never missed a day of namajapam.

Namam on his tongue, the divine lamp lit by Lord, spread peace and light in his heart as well as in the hearts of many around him!

Regards and prayers,

Savitri
