Dandavat Pranams to all!!!

One of the bhajans I had pulled out for Guruvayuraapa

from my time spent taking carnatic singing class is Hari

Narayana. Never did hear it sung that day. I like

it alot and would like to have the words,

but no translation. I have googled it several

different ways, and have stories about his life,

but no lyrics and translation together. I have almost

reached the point where I can say I know how to sing

this bhajan in terms of learning the sahityam and the

swara, but I don't have an English translation yet.

Does anyone know of a link with translation, or would

someone help me break it down? There really aren't

that many words in need of translation compared to

some bhajans :-) And I do realize that swami Purandarasigned

his name in the end. Is the language Malalayam?

Hello,

With my little knowledge, let me give an attempt.

This is a kannada composition by purandara dasa

Google on purandara dasa, you will get all details.

All of purandara dasa's compositions ends with " purandara vithala " which is

his istha daivam

just like all of kanaka dasa's composition ends with " sree kagi nele adi

keshava "

pallavi

> hari naarayaaNa

> yenu mana ve <==> tell(repeat, sing) oh mind

In the pallavi, purandara dasa is repeating " hari narayaaaNa " and asking mind to

tell the same.

In the anupallavi, purandara dasa is telling that Narada has sown the seed of

Narayana Namam on this earth

In the caranam, purandara dasa is asking why is homa, tapa required when there

is Narayana naamam

Purandara dasa's all compositions ends with his istha daiva's name (purandara

vitthala). You are yourself oh mind, because of the grace of purandara vitthala.

Dandavat Pranams!!!

I fall for you three times!!!

Dear Anuroopji:

I feel so blessed to be on this list and I thank

you one billion times for your efforts at

translation. While I had some sense of

a few words and knew that it ended with some sort of signature, I was thinking

more along the lines of Mirabai and her

"signature."

Now I feel I have the overall flow of the specific intention in the words chosen.

Let me study this a bit and I may have a

few more questions on specific words.

Really, it is such a joy to be amongst

you...who needs neti neti when there

is Narayana naaman!!!

Jai Shri Krishna!!!

Jai ShriAnuroopji, His blessed

servant reaching out to help another

servant.

In His Service,

Radhe
