MY HUMBLE PRANAM TO DEAR GURUVAYOORAPPA DEVOTEES

It was with much grief that I read the sad and untimely demise of a

Krishnanaattam artist of Guruvayoor Devaswom,M.Manikantan at

Pantheerankavu in Calicut on last Saturday.Manikantan died suddenly

following a cardiac arrest, while taking bath in the temple pond of

Pantheerankavu Vishnukshetram. He had come to Pantheerankavu, along

with the Krishnanaattam troupe of Guruvayoor Devaswom, to perform

the Aattam at this temple on Friday and Saturday. The mishap occured

on Saturday evening at 4'oo clock, when he was taking the bath before

dressing for the performance.

The demise of a promising Krishnanaattam artist at a young age(He

was 35) is really an irreparable loss to the traditional

art.Dedicating all his energies and potentials to Krishna through

this art form, this artist was a true devotee of Bhagavan. He was

serving Guruvayoorappan. He is survived by aged parents and his

wife.

God plucks earlier the flowers He loves the most..this universal

truth is true in the untimely departing of this young artist.

I recall the Krishnanaattam I witnessed at Guruvayoor temple some 10

years ago.How meticulously, nimbly with apparent ardousness the

artists performed the various sequences is still fresh in my

memory. The rigorous efforts of the performers of this great art is

really unique and praise worthy.

As devotees of Guruvayoorappan, I feel we should render some

monetary help collectively to the bereaved family of this

artist, who dedicated his life to Krishnan. This will not only be a

great and timely help to his family but also a mark of respect to

the departed artist.

I request all of you to think of my suggestion, think of the

modalities for the help and do the needful.

Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

At the feet of Guruvayoorappan
