Just imagine a wall clock in front of us. There are three needles: one showing the seconds, one showing the minutes and another one showing the hour. The second hand moves every second and we can see that with out any effort. Now look at the minute hand. We can see it moving only once in a minute. So we have to actually wait and watch 60 movements of the second hand before we see the minute hand moving once. Now unless you are there exactly at the time when second hand and minute hand finishes the sixtieth second of the 60 th minute, you cannot see the hour hand moving. It moves only once when minute hand moves 60 times and second hand moves 3600 times. So it is very hard to see it moving because the motion is very slow.

Great spiritual seekers have compared the second hand to our body, minute hand to our mind and the hour hand to Jivaathma. When the body performs several small saatwic deeds, (for eg:60), mind gets elevated to a little higher spiritual level. When mind entertain several good thoughts (take it 360), Jivaathma moves forward a little towards Paramaathma. Just like we can see the second hand movement with out effort, we can see the good deeds performed by the body. Just by listening to our mind carefully and for a longer period of time we can understand that mind has become purer and knowledge is emerging. (mananam and nididhyaasam). But the movement of Jivaathma to paramaathma is difficult to see. It has to be experienced (Thuriyaavastha) and for that we have to do sincere thapas for a long time.(say 3600). Scriptures say that what is doable for us is to make sure that the body (second hand) does all good deeds and minute hand becomes purer and purer and God who is the Lord of Kaalam will take care of the Jivaathma's movement and as per one's desire He will bless us with Saalokyam, Saameepyam and Saaroopyam or Saayujyam. Saalokyam, Saameepyam and Saaroopyam blesses us with a chance to serve Him and His devotees enjoying His Sat-chit-aananda Swaroopam where as with Saayujyam, we become one with the sat-chit-aananda Swaroopam
