" Mayapur, March 2, 1976-- Take advantage of this rare opportunity of this human form of life. There are 8,400,000 different species of life through which we are rotating lifetime after lifetime. So getting a human body is not an every day affair. This most auspicious opportunity only comes after many millions of lifetimes in the lower species. Anyone who does not utilize their human life for self-realization is making the greatest mistake. When this happens it is the greatest tragedy, and unfortunately today this neglect of the human form has become the standard behavior for the entire human society. What can be done? We must first ourselves become solidly situated in Krishna consciousness and then do the highest welfare activity of spreading to everyone else all over the world. But we should not forget the entire world is male dominated from time immemorial, and it still is, except for very rare instances. It is the law of nature. We cannot change the structure or the makeup of nature. ---------------------------- And we should also not forget that in Brindavan, there is only one male :-) This exchange reminds me of a beautiful anecdote about Saint Mirabai, for whom I have the greatest respect and admiration... " Jiva Gosain was the head of the Vaishnavites in Brindavan. Mira wanted to have Darshan of Jiva Gosain. He declined to see her. He sent word to Mira that he would not allow any woman in his presence. Mira Bai retorted: " Everybody in Brindavan is a woman. Only Giridhar Gopal is Purusha. Today only I have come to know that there is another Purusha besides Krishna in Brindavan " . Jiva Gosain was put to shame. He thought that Mira was a great devotional lady. He at once went to see Mira and paid her due respects. " from http://www.dlshq.org/saints/mirabai.htm In His Service, Radhe
Guest guest
The subject matter is not the congregation of females at one place at a particular time but male domination in our society, then and now. jai shree krishna ! guruvayur , " Radhe " <shaantih wrote: > > - > chirattapuram > guruvayur > Monday, March 02, 2009 2:06 PM > [Guruvayur] Re: Srila Prabhupada speaks on March 02 > > > What Sri Krishnamoorthy says is correct to a point because the one > who quotes, Sri Prabhupada, Krishna and the husband are males and the > only femle is the WIFE.
