performance. I would like to know if there are links where I can

download his discourses.

 

The story about Triprayar kshetram appeared in the tamil version of

Narayaneeyam authored by him.

May I share my little knowledge on Triprayar Sri Rama kshetram.

 

The main deity is Sri Rama. You can see Sri Devi and Bhu Devi inside

the sanctum sanctorum next to Sri Rama.

 

Sahasranama archana, Nei vilakku, Meenoottu and Vedi vazhipadu are

considered as important offerings. Vedi vazhipadu here is certain to

bring relief to many problems of life. When Sri Rama who comes out

during Seeveli on an elephant is worshipped, it is believed that

whatever prarthana one has, will be fulfilled.

 

Gosala Sri Krishna and Sri Sastha are also present within the temple

precincts. Sri Sastha sits in a completely different posture (with one

leg to the ground) holding amruta kalasam in his hand. One will easily

fall in love with this Sastha here.

 

When you are standing before Sri Rama, turn around and you will find a

mandapam, which is considered as Anjanayer mandapam. It is believed

that Sri Hanuman is pratyaksham here meditating on Sri Rama.

 

I have read a story about Sri Hanuman at this temple, I think in Sri

Anantharama Dikshitar's Narayaneeyam. Once a father prayed to Sri

Guruvayurappan praying for his son who was mentally challenged. That

night he had a dream of Sri Krishna asking him to go to Triprayar. At

this temple. the boy was seen talking to someone, the father could not

see. Suddenly, the boy told his father that a monkey is offering

prasadam. The father told him to take it. And, the next thing he saw

was prasadam on the boy's stretched palms.

 

It would be very good if you can sit and meditate there.

 

Triprayar Sri Rama temple has a long story behind its installation and

consecration. Sthala purana of this temple is very interesting. The

importance of muhurtha and God's decision can be understood from this

sthala purana. The bali kal is one of great importance.

 

Triprayar is about 25-30 kms from Guruvayur. There are plenty of buses

available. You can also go there by an auto rickshaw and the rates are

nominal.

 

If I remember right, the temple closes early at about 11 am or so in

the morning and open at about 4.30pm in the evening.

 

Triprayar is part of the naalambalam- Moozhikulam, Irinjalakuda,

Paayamel are the other temples for Sri Lakshmana, Sri Bharata and Sri

Shatrughna. And the visit to the naalambalam should ideally start from

Triprayar.

Yes. It is believed that the "Choodamani" incident of Sri Ramayana took

place here.

 

Many years ago, we had gone to Triprayar by bus from Guruvayur and were

returning one late evening by bus, back to Guruvayur. A middle-aged man

who sat next to my father in the bus opened a conversation. He narrated

several details about

Triprayar temple. He claimed to be the son-in-law of the melshanti at

Triprayar. The incidents that he narrated were scintillating. The next

time I went to Triprayar, I searched and bought a sthala puranam which

was very engaging.

 

Triprayar is a must-visit kshetram.

Triprayar Rama Temple

Situated on the banks of Triprayar River, Triprayar Rama Temple is 25 km from Thrissur near Irinjalakuda in Thrissur District. The temple is dedicated to Ram (an incarnation of Lord Vishnu). This temple is a combination of beautiful legend, attractive locations and artistry of structure.

The deity is seen holding Shankhu, Chakra, rosary and mace in the hands. The image is said to have been found on the seashore by Vakkey Kaimal, a local chieftain and devotee. Other deities seen in the seashore were that of Lakshman, Koodalmanikyam Bharat and Shatrughna. These images were installed at Muzhikulam, Irinjalkkuda and Payammel respectively. There is an image of Dakshinamurthi with garland in one hand, representing Brahma. In the Namaskara Mandapam, square on plan with pyramidical copper roof, a Hanuman image is worshipped.

The temple architecture is similar to the Vadakkunnathan Temple. The sanctum rests on a massive base and is of one tier, ending in an impressive conical roof. There is an inscription that dates back to the 11th century in the inner and outer walls surrounding the sanctum.

Legend has it that when the chieftain was building the Triprayar temple, an aerial voice told him that the idol of Ram must be installed at the spot exactly where a peacock would be standing. The altar was built subsequently at the spot where the peacock flew. The main festivals, Ekadasi day (November-December) and Poonam festival (March-April) , are celebrated in a grand manner.

Thrissur railway station is the nearest railhead.

Radhe Krishna. The slokhas what you have quoted were drawn from Mukunda Maala, beautiful garland of verses composed by Kulasekhara Azhwar (King from Chera Dynasty). All the slokhas are so beautiful and you can chant them daily as they are only 40 slokhas.You can find Azhwar is pleading to Lord Mukunda to grace with pure love and devotion on his lotus feet and take him out of this Samasara Sakhara. Thanks a lot for sending these pictures. I have a question for you. Are these pictures of the actual temple idols or are they sketches of the idols. How did you obtain them?

 

I did go to Triprayar in 2007 following a visit to Guruvayoor. I have pleasant memories of this visit.

that Sri Hanuman is pratyaksham here meditating on Sri Rama. I have read a story about Sri Hanuman at this temple, I think in Sri Anantharama Dikshitar's Narayaneeyam. Once a father prayed to Sri Guruvayurappan praying for his son who was mentally challenged. That night he had a dream of Sri Krishna asking him to go to Triprayar. At this temple. the boy was seen talking to someone, the father could not see. Suddenly, the boy told his father that a monkey is offering prasadam. The father told him to take it. And, the next thing he saw was prasadam on the boy's stretched palms.It would be very good if you can sit and meditate there.Triprayar Sri Rama temple has a long story behind its installation and consecration. Sthala purana of this temple is very interesting. The importance of muhurtha and God's decision can be understood from this sthala purana. The bali kal is one of great importance.Triprayar is about 25-30 kms from

Guruvayur. There are plenty of buses available. You can also go there by an auto rickshaw and the rates are nominal.If I remember right, the temple closes early at about 11 am or so in the morning and open at about 4.30pm in the evening.Triprayar is part of the naalambalam- Moozhikulam, Irinjalakuda, Paayamel are the other temples for Sri Lakshmana, Sri Bharata and Sri Shatrughna.
