Guest guest
Om namo Narayanaya! My regards and prayers for all the devotees of the group. It is heard that the temple authorities have now relaxed the restrictions to modern dresses(for women).Had Sankaracharya insisted any traditional attire for women entering the temple at the time of prathishta? Was it exclusively for Guruvayur temple? What was the traditional form of dress followed by women inside the temple during 1950s?Though we are interested in following modern fashion trends,we wud like to follow the traditional attire inside the temple premises.Cud any respected women devotees clarify our doubts;if so we wud be grateful to them!May LORD GURUVAYURAPPAN BLESS YOU ALL! Guest guest
Hare Krishna ! The custom was that the women of those days used to wear the 2 piece saree or the so called mundu and veshti which normally comes in sandalwood colour (cream colour) with a light golden border or so.... Of course the designes have been improved to a great extent now...but still many follow to wear the same even now. Later sarees (single piece) in same colour and combination were being seen in the temples and as the temple became popular in other states/countries, people started wearing the traditional indian sarees in different colours. However recently the improvisation of women dress to sarwar kameez people say is very comfortable, not sure, how many have accepted this and how many not accepted. Sankaracharya would have definitely insisted that women should visit the temple only when they maintain the body and soul clean in neat dresses.
