It cleans you of your karma and prepares you for Lord Shiva or Narayana or Lord Krishna. It is a process, a journey. The navagraha temples near Kumbakonam have their place in our hindu life. Otherwise these hundreds of years old temple would not be there. Don't you think? The navagrahas in Kumbakonam are with their consorts and are said to be very happy and shower their grace more quicky and fully, than the ones in ordinary temples around the world.
