Namasthe- Puzzle

Dear all,

Namasthe!

We do not have any control of what happens in our life. Things happen and we do not know whether what happens is good or bad for us. Seemingly unhappy events often turns out to be for the good and extremely desirable events often turns sour. Here is a story to illustrate this point.

There was a poor farmer who owned a fine horse. Lot of people liked the horse and wanted to buy it from him. In spite of his poverty he would not sell the horse. One night this fine horse was stolen and all the villagers told him how stupid he was not to sell the horse for a good sum. But the farmer told them : " There is a reason for everything. God knows that. "

After a few days, one morning the stolen horse came back with a herd of several wild horses. All the villagers told him how lucky he was to get back his own horse and several other horses. The farmer again said: " There is a reason for everything. God knows that. "

The farmer started training all the new horses in his way and his son helped him in training and feeding them. One day while playing with the horses, his young son broke his leg and could not help him any more in taking care of the horses. Villagers said: " what a sad thing to happen! We all feel very bad about your plight. "

The farmer again uttered the same words: There is a reason for everything. God knows that. "

Soon after that, neighboring country attacked their country and King ordered all the young males of the village to join the army. They all had to go and fight and several of them died. Because of his broken leg, this farmer's son was exempted from the duty and in a few months he got better and started helping his father. Again the villagers exclaimed: " you are so lucky to have him near you and his broken leg saved his life. "

Farmer smiled and replied: " There is a reason for everything. God knows that. "

Then he added: " It is hard to decide what is good and what is bad when applied to the big picture of life. Like the pieces in a puzzle, at a time, we are encountering small pieces of our life. Eventually it all will fit into His big picture and we have to take everything as it comes and go forward. Since God is in full charge of us, we should surrender ourselves at His feet. Bhagavan assures that He will take care of us:

Ananyaschintayanto mam ye janah paryupasathe. Thesham Nityabhiyuktanam Yogakshemam Vahamyaham

Let Bhagavan's blessings give us strength to react with faith and optimism.
