Dear all,

We have heard of heart attacks and that happens when blood flow to and from the heart is blocked. It can be fatal or mild.

Now there is another attack we often suffer which is not fatal to the physical body. That is called mind attack. This happens when various negative thoughts attack our mind and  the connection of jeevaathma and Pramaathma becomes loose. Then anxiety and stress engulfs us. Thoughts can be soothing or harsh. Depending on the quality of thoughts our connection becomes loose or tight.

Thoughts about God, His pastimes and stories of His glories cheers and enlightens the mind and help us stay closer to Him.  So we feel peaceful and happy. All positive thoughts leads our soul towards Paramaathma. All negative thoughts hurts it and evil thoughts can be very hurtful and make the connection to the paramaathma very loose. This brings restlessness, stress and insecurity. When the mind is severely hurt, repairing will take several several janmas and regaining a tight connection to Paramaaatma becomes extremely hard. A mind hurt by our own improper thoughts and actions takes much more time to heal than a mind hurt by another person. That hurt is repaired when we forgive that person. But the hurt inflicted by ourselves is healed only through sincere prayers and good actions.

The good thing is that each time a negative thought comes to our mind, jeevathma tells us to discard them. If we listen to that warning, we will be OK. The sad thing is that we often neglect the warning and run after what gives us pleasure and forgetting what is good for us in the long run. We forget to differentiate " shreyas " and " preyas " .

When all thoughts become concentrated on Him and when it becomes totally uninterrupted, a stage comes when all thoughts cease and Jeevathma attains Paramaathma, never to return. That is Saayujyam.

Swami Vivekananda says: " Do not become victims of your thoughts. Master your mind and do not let the mind control you. Use your mind to go beyond mind. Sincere prayer is the golden bridge between your mind , jeevathma and paramaathma. Prayer purifies your thoughts. "

Let me conclude this with the famous prayer from Rigveda:

Ano Bhadra Krattavo Yantu Vishwata: let noble thoughts come to us from all directions.

Regards and prayers

Savitri
