Guest guest
Dear all, We have heard about the constellation the " Great Bear " . This is the same as Saptharshi Mandala. There are seven stars and in a clear sky we can observe those under the Pole Star in the northern sky. These seven stars are situated like a semicircle and they are named after the seven sages: Marichi, Atri, Angiras, Pulastya, Pulaha, Krathu and Vasishta. So Vasishta was one of the Sapthrshis and was the son of Brahma Devan born through His samkalpam or imagination. In other words Saptharshis are Brahmadevan's maansaputhraas. Vasishta was a great sage and was the Guru of Surya Dynasty. So he was the Guru of Lord Rama and the great Vedavyasa Maharshi was Vasishta's grandson. His wife was Arundhati devi, a very pious and devoted woman. Their marital relationship was considered to be ideal and hence even now after marriage, the bride is led outside the wedding hall to do namaskaar to Arundhati Nakshatra which appears near the Saptharshi Mandala. Vasishta was known as Kulapathi, a title earned by teaching 10,000 disciples. Vasishta was the personification of patience, knowledge and love. Vasishta's ashramam was always filled with peace and love. Lot of disciples lived with him and lot of devotees visited him seeking his blessings and advice. Knowing his generosity, Devendra gifted him the divine cow Nandini. Nandini was the daughter of the the divine cow Kamadhenu. Nandini was able to provide all the food necessary for the hermitage effortlessly with her divinity. Becasue of Nandini, Vasishta's ashramam had everything in abundance. Lakshmi Devi and Annapoorneswari blessed Kulapathi through Nandini. Next story is the meeting of King Viswamitra and Vasishta. Gurubhyo Nama: Regards and prayers Savitri
