459.suvrathaH- Sobhanam vrataham asya asthi ithi

One who has good vows. As Rama the Lord said `sakrdheva prapannaanaam thava asmi ithi cha yaachathe abhayam sarvabhoothebhyo dhadhaami ithi vratham mama.' So the vow of the Lord is to give protection to all who resort to Him.

460. sumukhaH

The namas from 460 to 468 refer to the amrthamaThana.

`prasannavadhanam Dhyaayeth,' the countenance of the Lord is always pleasant.Valmiki says that when Rama was asked to go to forest he was not shpwing any grief. `na chaiva raamaH pravivesa Sokam.' Kamban goes one step forward and says, `raaman thirumukhacchevvi nOkkin oppadhE munbu pinbu avvaachakam uNarakkEtta appozhudhu alarndhasenthaamaraiyinai venRadhu ammaa' The face of rama was like freshly blossomed lotus both when he was offered the crown and also when he was sent to forest. In all the archavatharas including that of seshasaayee, it is the pleasant smile on His face that enchants all. Krishna could never be imagined without his alluring smile.

With reference tyo amrtahmaThana, the face of the Lord as He carried the amrtha as Dhanvanthari was itself nectar-like as the moon.

461. sookshmaH

The Lord is termed as aNoraNeeyaan mahatho maheeyaaN, meaning that he is subtler than the subtlest and larger than the largest. The former implies the imminence and the latter represents His all ervasiveness. he is subtle , sookshma also because he could not be perceived by the snses, mind or intellect He is atheendhriiya , beyond these.

The intention of the Lord in churning the ocean foe amrtha was to give it to the devas and it was well hidden from the asuras being subtle or sookshma.

462. sughoshaH

He is the sound of the Vedas. The unmanifest sound is the Lord and the He is manifest as Omkara. He is sung by the Vedas. Ghoshyathe vedhaih. Hari enra pEraravam, says Andal in Thiruppavaai. When the name of Hari enters the ear all other sound are not heard. Hence it is the pEraravam, the loudest sound.

The sounds of churning and the praise of the devas were of pleasant sound, sugoshaH

Also asadhvrtthaanaam sukham dhyathi (khandayathi) ithi sukhadhaH, the one who cuts off the happiness of those who follow evil path.

As the bestower of amrtha, He gives immortality or eternal happiness signified by amrtha.

464. suhrth

He is the true friend of all.He does good even to those who are against Him as His retribution is for redemption.Hence He is the only friend of all bengs. The word suhrth means Sobhanam hrdh asya sthi ithi, one who has good heart. The heart of the Lord is full of daya, mercy and He rushes to help His devotees as he did to gajendhra and Droupadhi. Even to thos who were against He gavethem a chance to redeem themselves till the end and then only out of His mercy to eradicate evil propensities He edestroyed the embodiment that was the casue of illwill towards Him.

The Lord was the friend of devas as He secured the amrtha for them.

465. manoharaH

manaH harathi ithi. The one who steals the heart of all. Rama and Lakshman were referred to by Janaka as dhrshtichitthaapahaarNou, the two who stole the glances as well as the hearts of onlookers.

The Lord steals the minds of the devotees by robbing them of all sensual attractions and makes them turn towards Him.

He had innate benevolence to help the devas in each and every step and thus stole their hearts by His mercy.

466. jithakroDhaH

One who has conquerd anger. When the Lord punishes evildoers it is not out of anger but as an act of mercy like amother punishing the child for wrongdoing. In the gita he says samo `aham sarvabhootheshu na me dhveshyo asthi na priyaH.' In all His incarnations He assumes anger when needed and not became angry anytime.

He didi not get angry with the asuras for fighting with the devas and for grabbing he amrtha but wanted to get it away from them by gentle means like taking tha Mohini form
