Guest guest
HARI AUM The wily ways of present day politicians are an anathema to our fair minds. Think of the games played by the famous rulers from Kozhikode, the 'Zamorins', in seizing control of the powerful shrine of Guruvayur. Smt Pepita Seth's 'Heaven on Earth' allows us a glimse into that murky past where every sense of ethics were thrown out in the winds when it came to power and hegemony. It seems even now any member of Chennas Mana before taking charge of the post of 'Tantri' goes to Puliyannur Mana and gets their blessings. It seems the Zamorin had tricked the original 'Tantri', Puliyannur Namboodirippad with whom he had some tiff, into abdicating the hereditary post of 'Tantri' of Guruvayur. Looking back 'Guruvayur' mirrored the ethos of the periods it passed through and continues to do so by remaining a microcosm of the world 'he' projects through his 'maya'. There isn't a second spot in this world like 'Guruvayur' where the spiritual and the divine interplay with the multitudinous expanse of the material world. 'He' rightly said to Arjuna in BG verse 11/7: " ihaikastham jagatkR^itsnaM pashyAdya sacharAcharam mama dehe guDAkesha yachchAnyaddraShTumichChasi " Nothing is alien to 'him'.
