Dear all,

Radhe Krishna!

" LOKAH SAMASTHAH SUKHINO BHAVANTHU " is the correct usage.

It is part of the sloka which prays for world's welfare:

" SWASTHIH PRAJABHYAH PARIPALAYANTHAM

NYAYYENA MARGENA MAHEEM MAHEESAH.

GO-BRAHMANEBHYAH SUBHAM ASTHU NITHYAM

LOKAH SAMASTAH SUKHINO BHAVANTHU "

Meaning:  MAY THE RULERS OF THE COUNTRY RULE THE WORLD WITH JUST METHODS AND GIVE ALL GOODNESS TO THE PEOPLE.   MAY THE COWS AND BRAHMANAS ENJOY GOODNESS.   MAY ALL THE PEOPLE OF THE WORLD ENJOY ALL HAPPINESS.

Explanation. It is all self-explanatory.  Only one point is to be noted is that it was the belief in earlier days, that if the cows and Brahmanas are taken proper care of, all people will enjoy goodness.    Further, in those days, when the Varna-Asrama system was well-prevalent, each varna was expected to follow its " Swadharma " as prescribed by the scriptures.   If anyone doesnt follow the swadharma, the first casuality would be the Brahmanas among the humans, and cows among the animals.    The Brahmanas, who were supposed to learn all the Vedas, were expected to teach the scriptures to all, and make them follow the " Swadharma. "

Now the entire system has undergone change and there is overlap among the professions which were the primary criterion for division of society into the four varnas.   So the definition of " Swadharma " has also undergone change.  On this account, each one has to find his/her own swadharma.

But the prayers continue for the good of the world.

Regards

K.V. Gopalakrishna.
