One who protects Dharma.He confers arTha and kama and sees that they are not contrary to Dharma. DharmaavirudDho bhootheshu kaamo asmi bharatharshabha(Bg.7.11) He protects Dharma by incarnating when adharma prevails.'yadhaayadhaahi Dharmasya glaaniH bhavathi bhaaratha abhyuttThaanam adhramsya thadhaa aathmaanam srjaamyaham.'(BG.4.7) Also the Lord maintains the dharma of everybeing such as fire and heat, water and coldness and the seas keeping their boundary etc. When dharma prevails in the world He rewards it with prosperity and peace but when adharma dominates He punishes with natural calmities like earth quakes etc. 480.Dharmakrth He creates the Dharma which he protects. 481. Dharmee DhramaH asya sthi ithi Dharmee. Ramo vigrahavaan DharmaH, Rama is the embodiment of dharma,says Valmiki. Bhishma said answering the question ko DharmaH sarvaDharmaaNaam bhvathaH paramo mathaH, which is the best of all Dharmas, lokanaaTHam mahadhbhoothamsarvabhootha bhavodhbhavam esha me sarvaDharmaaNaam Dharmo aDhiko mathaH, "The Lord of the universe, the Supreme Being, the cause of the origination and existence of all beings is the greatest dharma of all in my opinion." aachaaraprabhavaH DramaH Dharmasya prabhuH achyuthaH, the culture is born of Dharma and Achyutha is the Lord of Dharma. 482.sadhasath apakshaya vinaaSaabhyAm pariNaamardhi-janmabhih varjithah Sakyate vaktum yah sadhaastIti kevalam(vishnupuranam) That is called sath, ever existing, which is free from the other five states, namely reduction, destruction, transformation, and birth to which all beings are subjected to. He Upanishad terms Brhaman as sath by saying sadheva soumya idham agra aaseeth ekameva adhvitheeyam, sath alone existed in the beginning one only without a second. Brahman is defined as sath chith and ananda, existence, knowledge and bliss in the Upanishads. Asath- The Lord is non existent for those who have no faith and are following the path of adharma. amRtam caiva mRtyuSca sat asat ca aham arjuna –BG.9.19-"I am the immortality and death ; the existence and nonexistence." Ramanuja explains sath as meaning that which exists now and asath as that which existed in the past and going to existin future, meaning that the Lord is the past, present and future. 483. ksharam That which perishes. The Lord is everything which are perishable all of which is His sareera. In the gita the Lord says, dhvaavimou purushou loke kharaSchakshara eva cha ksharaH sarvaaNi bhoothaani kootasTho akshara uchyathe, There are two entities in this world of beings, kshara and akshara, the perishable and the unperishable. The former is the self reflected through the body, mind and intellect and consists of ego which is the perishable self and the other is the inner self or kutastha who does not perish even when the former does. 484. aksharam He is the imperishable Brahman, the inner self of all. 485. avijnaathaa The word means one who does not know. The Lord is not aware of the faults of His devotees.AviH also means protection. aviH rakshaNe. The Lord is the protector , avathi ithi aviH, who knows all ,jnaathaa. 486. sahasraamSuH sahasraaH. aparimithaaH, innumerable, amsvaH, rays of knowledge, asya ithi 487. viDhaathaa One who lays down the laws, controls all including Yama, apportions the karma and the fruits for all. 488. krthalakshaNaH lakashaNa means definition. After creating everything the Lord gave them name and form and established the dharma and attributes. anena aathmanaa anupraviSya naam rope vyaakaravaaNi, "I will enter into these beings as their inner self and give them name and form."(Chan.Up) .. ..
