Guest guest
My Dear friends, In this message, I am referring to two subjects; one, postings on Mothers day and two, postings on “A newborn's conversation with Godâ€. The posting of “A newborn's conversation with God†was a great and very timely homage to every Mother there is. Even when some mothers are a disgrace for Motherhood like Dhithi who instigated her children Hiranyakshan and Hiranyakashipu to do evil deeds; even they deserve to be remembered as that is a lesson for others to learn from. If we go back in to our PurANam we can see a kind of Mothers day celebrations there. Vishnu PurANam does discuss an honoring of devamAtha Adhithi where MahA Vishnu was also present and on this occasion bhagwAn promised to be born as her child. This is in fact is the fifth of deshAvathAram, vAmanAvathAram. Mothers are to be remembered at every point of life. So remembering them any time is a very good thing and they must be respected. But in the West mostly Mothers or Fathers are not remembered at every day and time. The Father’s day and Mother’s day celebrations came into effect as a kind of compensation for the neglect the children did to the parents and this in fact added to the neglect of Fathers and Mothers further. Thus a lot of people of Eastern countries, who know this, don’t hold Mothers day in high esteem. In fact our culture says that Mother is the embodiment of The Ultimate for us (മാതാ പിതാ à´—àµà´°àµ ദൈവം). But the conditions in Keralam and bhAratham is also changing in that direction and we can see parents being thrown into elderly homes and/or being shunted between the homes of the children, often Father and Mother separated from each other. Mother is also the first Guru (ആദി à´—àµà´°àµ) for every child, all of us. So Mother has to be remembered every second of our life and they should be the first on the list of our honorees. So at times lot of our people may feel little odd in celebrating Mothers day. My case is a perfect example as I don’t celibate any of these days. Also, most of the celebrations in the West are the product of businesses promotion and aimed at money making. The capitalist society survives on materialism and money making is the main motto. The business community always creates an opportunity to make money. In the West all the festivals are celebrated as the business community dictates. At this time of history, even in our own Keralam it is the case. Even though communists, who claims to be the saviors of the workers and the poor are the major ruling party in Keralam, they are the biggest capitalists in our good old bhAratham now. Now coming to the story about “A newborn's conversation with Godâ€, I like to point out few things. First, we don’t have any angels in our culture, religion or spirituality. Second, Our Athma do not necessarily come from heaven or goes to Heaven. Our Athma is part of the parabrahMam and when it is the time for it to merge with the Ultimate it will go there. Athma goes from one life to the other until that stage is reached. It may also go to heaven at some time. According to our spirituality, Athma do not always travel between earth and heaven. When we say God in our spirituality, it means parabrahMam, Which is represented by Trimoorthikal and that parabrahMam or any of the Trimoorthikal are not the residents of the heaven. In our Spirituality heaven is the place where materialistic pleasure is in plentiful and those who are in heaven don’t even have a passage to the parabrahMam from there. That is why the gods (ദേവനàµà´®à´¾àµ¼) cannot ever have that merger with the Absolute. Those who go to heaven will have to come back into this world and with and through the human life only the Ultimate merger with the parabrahMam is possible. The Heaven is ruled by Indran and he is not even one of the trinity. So in our Spirituality the baby does not come from heaven to be born always. It may happen, but not always. What I am trying to say is that this story even though very good as homage to Mothers, is a story influenced by Aramaic religious traditions and as per Semmaji, she got the story from some of her friends and she forwarded it to us as a homage to all the Mothers, which was a great thing to do and I greatly appreciate her for that. Her idea was great, the story was excellent. I just want to point out that it did not have much to do with our traditions, culture and spirituality. I am in no way trying to discourage the postings of such stories from our members. Keep posting such stories. But I think the stories based on our traditions and culture may be better and I prefer to read them more and more. praNAmam, With Love, Regards and Thanks to all, Sincerely,Udayabhanu Panickaraum namaH Shivaaya The vow not to kill is great indeed, and greater still is non-eating of the flesh; there would be no butcher, if there is non to eat; in eating thus abides the cruder ill, as she/he is the reason for the killing.
