For muscular dystrophy, there are good homoeopathic medicines and if you contact a good homoeopath, I am sure he could suggest some good remedies. With my limited knowledge (I am not a doctor), I suggest Cocculus Indicus 200, which can be of help in such situations. Depends on where your friend is living and whether he has faith in the alternate system of medicine.
