Guest guest Posted June 22, 2009 Report Share Posted June 22, 2009 In trichur we can start with Sreee Vadakunnadan siva temple,Paramekkavu Badrakali temple,thiruvambady sreekrishna temple where poojas and customs same as Guruvayoor temple ,Brahmaswom madam 3 temples....(one shrine inside open only on vijaya dashami day...devi's presence..will get saraswatha kritham on that day ..),Kulashery narasimhamoorthy temple..(famous 4 poomoodal 2 hanuman swamy),Koodal manikyam temple .(bharatha swami),nadakkavu hanuman temple,thrippayya thrimoorthy temple(rare)' thriprayar sree ramaswamy temple,kodungallur badrakali temple,.Thiruvanchikulam siva parvathy temple...famous...leading sree parvathy devi to bedroom (palliyara)with vadyagosham. in a pallakku ...everyday.on velutha vavu (full mn) day its good to have darshan of this custom..4 nedumangalyam..removing obstrucles 4 marriage etc..palliyara payasam famous... Guest guest Posted June 25, 2009 Report Share Posted June 25, 2009 Thiruvanchikulam temple at Kodungallur is the oldest in that area. It dates back to the days of Chera Kings. The famous Siva poets in Tamil viz., Appar, Sundarar and Manickya vachakar have composed poems in praise of the god and there were inscribed in the temple walls. The famous Silapathikaram of Ilankovadigal was composed here and Ilangovadigal was the younger brother of Cheran Chenguttuvan who reigned from Vanchi the then capital of Chera kingdom. The famous temple of Kodungallur bhagavathy is said to be that of Kannaki. Cheran Chenguttuvan is said to have gone with his army to himalayas to bring the stone for the idol of Kannaki and he defeated the king of Kalinga(the present day Orissa) and made the kalinga king to carry the stone for making the idol of Kannaki.
