Guest guest Posted June 23, 2009 Report Share Posted June 23, 2009 Hari Om Sri.Achuthan Nairji has written about this temple-AYYUNNU -PAANDAVAGIRI near Trichur.There is a belief - Paanchali prayed for her husbands in this temple- so i have heard from my parents that women pray for their husbands' success and good health here.Also devotees offer 'broom stick' (CHOOL)for long hair (like Paanchali).Narayanashrama Tapovanam, founded in 1963 by Poojya Swami Bhoomananda Tirtha,is also near on the picturesque slope of Pandavagiri. Thiruvullakkavu Sastha is famous for Vidya and Ezhuthiniruthu. Near Thiruvullakkavu there is a small temple where Vamana is the idol.There are very rare temples in kerala with VAMANA prathishtta.every year famous OTHUKOTTU (Chanting Yagur Veda by Brahmins)is conducted here. Good news. It is said that panchali prayed at that temple but the contents of her prayer were unknown to me until now. jai shree krishna ! My Grandma used to take me there often. At that time it was bush and cashew nut plantation all around.There were wild animals such s fox, wolf. owls and porcupines. I used to pick up porcupine needles and fashion antique pens out of them. Very few people worshiped there in those days , in the 1950's. There is also another temple dedicated to Narasimhamurthi, at Cheruvathery, a mile south of Palakkal. The Murthi is very powerful. There is an annual Pooyam festivl there ( there is a smaller Subrmanyaswamy shrine within the temple complex) . In the olden days our Kavadi and Parasoles travelled to Thayamkulangara to be part of that bigger Pooyam festival, but not any more. jai shree krishna !
