Sri Pandit Gopalan Nair in his commentary of Srimad Bhagavatam gives the meaning of the words (or phrase?) as given below (Srimad Bhagavatam 1.1.1). satyam=- the one without end; the one who will not disappear (naasamillateyumirikkunna) param = the Lord (parameswara) dhee mahi = we meditate upon (njangal dhyanikkunnu) We meditate upon the Lord (Vishnu) who is without end or who will not disappear when pralaya occurs. Sri Srila Prabhupada gives the meaning as follows.satyam—truth param—absolute dheemahi—I do meditate upon.
