BHAKTHI GIVES SHAKTHI

Sri Rama and his brother Lakshmana were sitting quietly on the sand beach of the Indian Ocean . They were watching the vanara sena (monkey brigade). Under the command of Hanuman and other participants they wanted to complete sethu bandhanam, build a bridge across the ocean to Lanka. They wanted to cross the ocean to rescue Sita abducted by Ravana and kept in Lanka in the Ashoka Vana killing Ravan and his coterie of RakshasThe vanaras were carrying huge boulders and dropping them in the ocean. But all of them were sinking by their sheer weight. The vanaras approached their Chief Hanuman and told him of their predicament. If the boulders and huge stones they were carrying and throwing into the ocean were sinking to the bottom, how and when they can complete the assigned task of completing the construction of the bridge

across the ocean? . Hanuman who was perched on a high rock was thinking deeply about a solution. Suddenly it flashed through his mind .He asked a set of vanaras to bring a massive boulder. With a broken twig dipped in vegetable dye he wrote “Sri Rama†on the boulder, prayed for a while and now commanded them to drop it in the ocean. Lo! It did not sink!! And was afloat like a boat. The vanaras came running to him excitedly “. It is now floating, Sirâ€, they told him reverentially. Hanuman explained, “ The reason is simple. Rama is a God incarnate. We are doing this to help him rescue our beloved Loka Mata Sita Devi from the cruel clutches of Ravana. So write Sri Ram’s name on the boulder offer prayers and have faith in you. That keeps the boulder afloat .Go and keep on doing itâ€The whole exercise became simple thereafter. Hanuman used to write ‘Sri Rama’ on each boulder brought to him, the vanaras prayed and threw them into the

ocean and the boulders and stones stayed on the top without drowningSri Rama who was watching the whole operation from a distance called one of them and asked how the heavy boulders thrown were not sinking now. They told him “ Oh! Rama! Hanuman merely writes your name on them and we go and throw themâ€Sri Ram’s curiosity was aroused‘Really so? Let me try one myself. Bring me a stoneâ€The vanaras brought a stone. Rama wrote his name on it and asked it to be thrown into the ocean. Instead of staying afloat, it sank without a trace! Rama asked them to bring few more stones on which he wrote his name, they also shared the fate of the earlier stone. They all sank promptly.Sri Rama was perplexed and asked Hanuman to come and explain this conflicting phenomenonWith folded hands Hanuman clarified“ O Rama! You are God incarnate .I wrote your name on the boulders suffused with Bhakthi and the monkeys carried it with full faith in their hearts and prayers on their lips. They did the work with devotion dedication and duty-consciousness. That is why they floated. You merely wanted to try it for fun thinking it is a kind of magic. All heavy objects are duty bound to sink in water. It is the bhakthi that gave them the shakthi to stay afloat!â€Sri Rama smiled to himself .He thought it was the first time he became a shishya and Hanuman his guru .He blessed the project with success

Dear Jayasankarji,

Bhakti is eternal.

It is not pertinent to say "This story is helpful". Please say "This story is an eye opener"

Nothing is superior to Bhakti. There are so many occurrences in our puranas, to say that Bhakta with his devotion and bhakti towards God, is more powerful than God.

With love and regards,
