Guest guest
Dear All....... I just want to clear a doubt which is disturbing me since morning after my visit to a nearby Siva Temple. Every Monday early morining I go to Siva Temple. There i always lit a small vilaku behind the Siva Lingam... Today morning after lighting the lamp i came out of the Temple and suddenly the small glass bottle in which i carry oil slipped from my hand and broke into pieces... There was no oil in it as it happened after lighting the vilakku. There were many devotees inside the temple. I immediately cleared off all the glass pieces as i feared no one should step on it. It was a small bottle so i could easily pick up the broken pieces... One devotee told me nothing to worry as the bottle broke after lighting the lamp. But still i feel its a sign of bad omen.... Can anybody clear my doubt??? Hare Krishna...... Gita. recommends that you upgrade to the new and safer Internet Explorer 8.

Guest guest
Hari-om Geetaji, An accidental breakage of a glas bottle is not a bad or good omen. Please don't fall prey to Superstition. Items made of glass tend to break irrespective of the place and circumstnces. Your bottle fell from ur hands because its outer surface was slippery due to oil spread. Next time carry the oil in a small stainless steel container WITH A HANDLE ( a mini old style choru paatram ). To err is human but to forgive (whether by fellow humans or the almighty )is divine ! Maheswara will forgive you. May Lord Mahadev bless you. jai shree krishna ! Guest guest
Dear Gitaji and other devotee-friends,Radhe Krishna! One should not be that superstitious to consider the breakage of the bottle as a bad omen. Bottles will break if they fall on the floor. It only teaches a lesson that we should not take oil to the temple---------in breakable containers. In olden days, our grandmothers always made it a point to take the oil to the temple only in a " kinnom " a small metallic vessel, (probably to avoid these sort of situations) and that too, do not fill more than three-quarters (probably if more filled, it will thulumbify (shake) and spill on the floor, making it an accident hazard). So Gitaji, next time onwards, make it a point to carry the oil in a kinnom or a plastic bottle with proper cork or cap. That is all. Stop worrying, have a good sleep and thank that Lord that it did not hurt anybody's foot! LoveKVG.On Mon, Aug 17, 2009 at 3:46 PM, Dr.B.G.Y Sastry <drbgysastry wrote: Dear Geetaji, Bhakti is eternal. Guest guest
I used to tell my friends who are worried about bad omen, griha dosham etc. that when you know the lord of the house very closely will you be afraid of his dogs. When you pray the Lord and keep in high esteem what all this bad omen will matter. Lord will see that you are well protected from all evil forces. Only when you lack self confidence you will look for such bad superstitious things. Have 100% faith, no evil force will ever come near you. My wife and i used to go to a devi temple in the morning at 3.30 am. The street lights may not burn some times and we have to find our way with the twilight from the sky. On reaching the temple we light a stone lamp, pouring oil in the slot. Pujari may come a little later and open the temple and start lighting the lamps. We have the nirmalya darshanam of the devi. We were never afraid of any thieves in the way or the street dogs or any strangers in the road. Our main aim to have the nirmalya darshanam was a boon to us. Then many people seeing our way of having darshan used to come in the early morning a small crowd used to gather when the pujari comes. --- On Mon, 17/8/09, Saroja Ramanujam <sarojram18 wrote: Saroja Ramanujam <sarojram18Re: [Guruvayur] HARI OMguruvayur Date: Monday, 17 August, 2009, 7:01 PM Do not have any superstitional fears of omens etc. when you are a devotee of the Lord.Everythung happens by His will only Occasiona breaking of things like bottles or even milk boiling over etc.means qwe have been careless that is all. Guest guest
Hari-Om ======= Geetaji, Superstition is lack of reason or knowledge. Although we are in the nuclear age , our society is still mired in old folk's tales and superstition. A brocken glass bottle means nothing in particular. Due to ignorance many of our older folks narrate ghost stories and other tales to the young kids These are retained in the innocent minds which in later years taunt them in daily life. e.g. Superstition about black cat crossing the road, Leaving car keys on the dining table, The story of Number 13 Cutting finger nails and discarding them on the ground Chewing betal nuts with the outer skin still on Please, your sincere belief in the Almighty is the most important thing. You are an educated person, please do not believe in all these nonsense. Have unconditional faith in Bhagavan and no harm will come to you. Bhagavan does not punish His devotees, but PROTECTS them. When God is with you who can be against you ? jai shree krishna ! Guest guest
Please don't feel bad about the incident; one feels that it is a small warning by the Lord, for all, to be more careful, even when you think you are doing easy things; it is always said that the wise learn from their mistakes.
