Guest guest
HARI AUM The opening chapter of 'gita' shows Duryodhan scrambling before Drona to get his attention. Watching this Bhishma reacts by sounding the trumpet thereby declaring the beginning of the war. Isn't this the way even our minds are working! Put in place of 'Duryodhan' our own desires which are impatiently trying to impress the discriminative part of our mind namely 'Drona'. In the silence of 'Drona' the intellect, namely 'Bhishma', gives in. And once the intellect falls from its intended purpose of maintaining and uplholding the 'dharma', the unstoppable destruction begins till it consumes all and sundry. Thinking of it 'Krishna' could have averted all those gory events by using divine powers but it was Bhishma, of all the personages of this drama, who could have done it so with minimum damages applying the norman human powers. In a way it's a reminder to rein in the 'Duryodhanistic' part of our minds with the combined strengths of the mind's own discrininative part, 'Drona', and the true intellect 'Bhishma' to save ourselves from destruction. Guest guest
Dear Balagopalji,Radhe Krishna! The whole Mahabharata is a parody comparable to the working of the human mind, a tug of war between the good and the evil, and the good triumphing at the end.  Every action, and every thought that has gone to bring about that action, is comparable to the working of the human mind.  Although many characters in the Mahabharata had super-human powers, nobody has been using them and natural sequences followed. We can quote any number of examples in Mahabharatam which could have changed the turn of events, if only the actors of the whole drama had acted in a different manner.   Could not have Dharmaputra requested Krishna to play dice against Sakuni ?   Could not have the very senior respectable elders of the court like Bhishma or Drona stopped the nonsense of the disrobing of Draupadi ? And they were watching the whole game like puppets!   Likewise, the whole Mahabharatam is full of parables to illustrate to common men like us what is Dharma and what is Adharma.   In fact, the purpose of every Avatara of the Lord is with a certain purpose, to teach us different lessons!RegardsKVG.On Mon, Aug 31, 2009 at 5:47 PM, balagopal ramakrishnan <rbalpal wrote:  HARI AUM  The opening chapter of 'gita' shows Duryodhan scrambling before Drona to get his attention. Guest guest
Happy Onam to allKVGji is right. I am trying to,bring out the significance of the avvatharas in my post Dasvathara and gita.I have finished upto nrsimhavarhra and next is pasrasurama which is a short one followed by rana\mvatahra nd krishnavathara. Mhabharatha as also has an allogorical significance, the five pandavas representing the indriyas amnd Draoupadi the mind and the kouravas are the evil impulses that enslacve the indriyas and the mind.Krishna is the Lord who is the inner soul of all. Th seemingly ahdarmic acts of Krishna were only the action of the Lord apportioning the fruit of karma to the evil doers.saroja ramanujam . Guest guest
HARI AUM HAPPY ONAM to all GURUDEVS. True. The beauty of the great Indian way of life is the inumerable parables & parodies. One may forget the hard core teachings on ethics and morals and values but not the stories that contain them!! and at some point of time or other they illumine the conscious mind towards 'dharma'.
