Guest guest
Dear Gurudevs, Hope all of you celebrated onam with a big feast, onapudava(new clothes) decoration with flowers, poojas for Trikkakaraappan etc.It was very nice to see the greetings in many different ways by our group. I am sending the song along with though I do not have the video of the performance yet. Guest guest
Dear Radhe, Yes, kaikottikkali literally means a "dance withclapping hands'. This is a traditional group dance done by women during the onam festival and thiruvathira festival, Onam, as you might have found out by now is celebration of Vamana and Mahabali. Thiruvathira is supposed to be the birthday of Siva . So the songs are about Vishnu( Krishna) and Siva as also other stories of Mahabharatha. You may see some of these dances in you tube .I will send you this one when I get the video. Thank you very much for the appreciation of the song. Yes, God's Grace is limitless! Thanks to Harish also. with love, sreedevi Om Namo Narayanaya --- On Tue, 9/8/09, Radhe <shaantih wrote: Radhe <shaantihRe: [Guruvayur] kaikottikkali song about krishnaguruvayur Date: Tuesday, September 8, 2009, 6:37 AM Thank you for sharing this with us, Shreedeviji! And also thank you for providing the translation. Without looking it up, I am assuming kaikottikkali is a dance form? I am always amazed at the breadth of Shri Menon's works in light of his prior history, as told by you, of one who could not even carry a tune!!! The grace of the Lord is incomprehensible!
