Guest guest
Dear Gurujis, With the long queues now a days, is it possible now a days, to have bhajana in Guruvayoor temple? Is there a separate entry/exit point, for those who undertakes Bhajana to go in/out of temple? Also to have darshanam of every poojas. Best Regards, Anil Bhajan Bhajan is observed to obtain one's cherished desire by dedicating oneself to God. The ideal place for Bhajan is the temple but it is not necessary that one should perform bhajan at Guruvayur itself; it can be performed by proxy in one's own place. To perform Bhajan is to take part in all the poojas right from Nirmalya Darshan to watching Krishnnaattam at night. To perform a Bhajan, one has to wake up early in the morning around 2.00 a.m. and bathe in Rudratheertha. Around 3.00 a.m. have the Nirmalya Darshan, worship the other deities, worship the Lord by Thailabhishekam and Vakacharthu, perform Sayanapradakshina, and receive Theertham and Kalabham. At around 5.00 a.m. after the Ushah Pooja and Ganapathi homam accompany the Seeveli chanting 'Hare Rama, Hare Krishna'. Worship the Lord during Pal Abhishekam, Navaka Abhishekam and Pantheeradi Pooja. When the Srikoil is opened after the Uchcha pooja pay your offerings. At around 4.30 p.m. when the temple is opened, accompany the Seeveli and make the 'Pradakshinam'. Worship the 'Deeparadhana' at the dusk. When the Srikoil is open after the 'Athazhapooja' worship the Lord, take part in the Seeveli and help to light the lamps for 'Chuttuvilakku'. Worship the 'Thrippuka' and receive 'Naiprasadam'. Worship the Bhagavathiazhal and receive the prasadam. Then come in front of the Srikoil and prostrate the Lord. Then watch the 'Krishnanattam' performed in front of the Attavilakku and this completes one day of Bhajan. www.indiapilgrim.in/guruvayur/offerings.html
Guest guest
You can enter the temple through the western gate or through a small wicket gate behind the bhagavathy shrine when the main eastern gate is blocked by the people standing in the queue. Though the offering is mentioned as bhajan, they call it bhajanam in malayalam to distinguish it from the musical singing of the lord's praise. Bhajanam is an offering in all the important temples in Kerala. It is the total dedication and involvement with the deity in the temple, the daily pujas performed etc. People offer to do bhajanam for say three days or four days they have to be physically present from the moment the temples opens up in the morning and be there till it closes down. In some temples they give separate food for those who offer bhajanam. In Guruvayoor there is no difficulty for the people to come in or go out during day time.
