Guest guest
Dear all, There lived a poor farmer in Scotland and he had a son. Once the farmer was working in his land and he suddenly heard a cry for help from the nearby swamp. He ran and saw a small boy drowning in the swamp. He saved the boy by pulling him with the help of a long stick. Boy thanked him profusely and went home. Next day, the boy's father came and thanked the farmer and requested to accept some form of gift as a token of appreciation. Farmer refused to accept anything for saving the young boy's life. Then the boy's father told him that he would like to take care of all the expense of the education of farmer's son. Finally farmer agreed to accept that gift because he knew that his son was smart and he did not have the money to send him to good schools. Boy's father sent farmer's son to the best schools and he finished all his education and came out of the school with flying colors. He joined the St Mary's Hospital Medical School in London and later became well known in the whole world by discovering the antibiotics Penicillin. This boy's name was Alexander Fleming. Later the noble man's son whom the farmer saved became ill with pneumonia and Alexander Fleming's Penicillin saved his life! Now let us see who was the boy's father. His name was Lord Randolph Churchill and who was the boy whom the farmer saved first and later the farmer's son Alexander Flaming saved ? His name was Sir Winston Churchill. This real life story illustrates how the results of some of the good deeds are experienced in the same life. According to our scriptures, we have to experience the results of all actions, good or bad, in this life or future lives. So if we do only good karmaas, all the results to be experienced also will be good. Then God leads us to a state where we perform only nishkaama karmaas (not result oriented karmaas) and become free from the bondage of karma and hence become free from the cycle of birth and death. Guest guest
Dear and respected KVGji,  Thank you for your kind words. पूरà¥à¤µ-जनà¥à¤®-कृतं पà¥à¤£à¥à¤¯à¤‚ कथं बाधते ? is a good question. Is'nt it strange that when we experience the results of the punyam (including the punyam of our Guruvayur group satsangam), most of the time we take it for granted and often we do not even give a thought to ask the question " Do we deserve this? What made us deserve this? Often we brush it off as Nalla kaalam or bhaagyam and a a few great souls like Sir Randolph Churchill go out of the way to do " prathyupakaaram " .  KVGji, I sincerely believe that this satsangam of our group is really the result of our poorva janma sukrutham.  Respectful regards and prayers  savitri      On Sun, Sep 20, 2009 at 1:43 PM, K.V Gopalakrishna <gopalakrishna.kv wrote:  Dear respected Savitriji,It is excellent interpretation!   But there is a one saying,पूरà¥à¤µ-जनà¥à¤®-कृतं पापं वà¥à¤¯à¤¾à¤§à¤¿-रूपेण बाधते.   पूरà¥à¤µ-जनà¥à¤®-कृतं पà¥à¤£à¥à¤¯à¤‚ कथं बाधते ?That is what has resulted in the experiences of both in the same life, is it? Guest guest
Dear and respected Sastriji, Sreedeviji,  Thank you so much for your kind words. I offer those at the lotus feet of Bhagavaan. All the encouragement I am getting inspires me to write about Him more.  I am blessed to become a member of this Guruvayur group.  'Tat chintanam tat kathanam Anyonyam tatprabodhanam Etadekaparatvam cha Brahmabhyasam vidur Budhah'  Knowingly and unknowingly we all are doing exactly what Chinmayaanada swamiji said once about this sloka:  " What is read or heard, in order to take root, must be thought over (tat chintanam). The test of clear thinking is in the ability to express our thoughts clearly (tat kathanam). Again, whether our understanding is right and proper, is brought out in the rational and mutual discussion of the Study Group members (anyonya prabodhanam) Thus, to the sincere and diigent student, the Study Group technique provides an oportunity and a forum for gaining a deep and quck perspective of our scriptures. The forum, in the Sat Sangh atmosphere, also fosters and develops brotherly understanding amongst the members and strengthens the " One Family " concept. "  Thus we all belong to this " One Guruvayur Family " where we think about Him, talk each other about him.  Regards an dprayers  Savitri  On Mon, Sep 21, 2009 at 12:03 AM, Nilakantan sastri <snsastri wrote:  Savitriji always comes out with excellent articles, whether in English or in Malayalam.S.N.Sastri--- On Mon, 9/21/09, K.V Gopalakrishna <gopalakrishna.kv wrote: K.V Gopalakrishna <gopalakrishna.kvRe: [Guruvayur] Namasthe- sow and reap guruvayur Date: Monday, September 21, 2009, 12:13 AM  Dear respected Savitriji,It is excellent interpretation!
