The science of archery as every other art or science comes only through the grace of the Lord who alone is sarvajna. This also refers to Rama who is mentuioned as the only one who is Dhanurvedhajna. 864. dhandaH He is the one who punishes through the kings or those who lay out the law. He is dhanda, punishment itself as he says in the Gita, dhando dhamayathaam asmi, " I am the punishment of those who punish," meaning, the power of punishment. 865. dhamayithaa He is the punisher also, as He Himself punishes the wrongdoers like Ravana 866. dhamaH This nama is explained in two ways. As adhamaH meaning the one who not subdued by anyone being omnipotent, and also as dhamaH , meaning one who controls everything. 867. aparaajithaH Na paraiH jithaH, not vanquished by anyone, invincible. 868. sarvasahaH He supports all and forgives all offences of His devotees. 869. niyanthaa He who establishes everyone and everything in their places. 870. niyamaH He sets the rule to be observed by all beings sentient and insentient . 871. yamaH He sets down the fruits of actions to be given by the various deities or powers behind the natural forces .. Alternative meaning of this nama and the previous one is that He could be attained by the disciplines of yama and Niyama 872. sathyavaan The Upanishad says, mahaan prabhur-vai purushah satthvasya esha pravarthakah This Purusha is the great master and propagator of satthva, meanng satthva guna, which leads to moksha. Te prefix vaan is added only to denote abundance of a qualitity. As satva also denote power and courage the word satthvavaan means one with great power. 873. saathvikaH One who is established in satthva. Naryana was proved to be saathvik by the episode of Bhrgu maharshi who wanted to find out which of the thrimoorthis are full of satthva. He insulted Siva and Brhama wheo were angered by his affront. But when he went to Vishnu whome he kicked on the chest to wake Him up The Lord caught hold of his foot saying that it would have been hurt by the hardness of His chest. Then Brgu declared that Vid shnu is the onlt one full of Satthva. 874. sathyaH One who is the existence. Brahman is defined as sathya jnaanam aanandham, existence, knowledge and bliss, sath chith and aanandha. 875. sathyaDharma paraayaNaH He is the refuge of those who follow sathya and dharma. 876. abhipraayaH He is the one whois sought after, abhipreyathe. abhimukhyena pralaye asmin praithi, all merge in Him at the time of deluge. In the sense of intention or meaning, He is the ultimate meaning of all. 877. priyaarhaH Priyam arhathe ithi. One who deserves to be loved. He says in the Gita, udhaaraaH sarva evaithe jnaanI thvaathmaiva me matham, though all these devotees are generous in loving ME the jnaani is Myselfbecause of his constant thinking of Me. By His equal if not more love shown to His devotees He is priyaarhaH 878. arhaH Fit to be worshipped 879. priyakrth One who does what is desirable. If you desire anything He gives you that but if you desire Him only He gives Himself, like amother who gives what the child wants but when he throws everythingaway and cries fior her she takes him in her hands. 880. preethivarDhanaH One who enhances the love of His devotees by manifesting His desirable qualities more and more so that they reach the styage when they want Him only.
