Guest guest
Dear all,   Shri Shankaracharyar wrote commentary on several Upanishads, Brhamasuthram, Bhagavad Gita and puranas. But he did not write commentary on Sreemad Bhagavatham. Why?  Here is the answer. Sri Shankacharyar was planning to write commentary of Bhagavatham and then Lord Sri Parameswaran told him  Aham vedmi Shuko vetthi ( അഹം വേദàµà´®à´¿ à´¶àµà´•àµ‹ വേതàµà´¤à´¿ ) Vyaaso vetthi cha Narada: ( à´µàµà´¯à´¾à´¸àµ‹ വേതàµà´¤à´¿ à´š നാരദ: ) Sreedharassakalam vetthi (à´¶àµà´°àµ€à´§à´° സകലം വേതàµà´¤à´¿ ) Shri Nrusimha prasaadatha: (à´¶àµà´°àµ€Â നൃസിംഹ പàµà´°à´¸à´¾à´¦à´¤  Myself, Shuka, Narada and Vyasa know the essence of Bhagavatham. But by Lord Nrusimha's special blessings Shreedara knows everything (in Bhagavatham) very thorougly.   Immediately Sri Shankaracharyar  put a full stop to his plan of writing commentary on Bhgavatha puranam and actually persuaded Sreedhara swamiji to start his commentary. Then Shreedhara Swamiji  wrote the most famous " Bhaavaartha deepika " commentary  of Sreemad Bhagavatham.   ( Here is another version of the same sloka : " aham vedmi suko vetti vyasa vetti na vetti va, sridharah sakalam vetti narasimha prasadatah: " I know the meaning of Srimad Bhagavatam, Sukadeva knows the meaning of Srimad Bhagavatam, and Vyasa (the writer) may or may not know. [but] Sridhara knows everything, by the mercy of Sri Nrisimhadeva. " ) Regards an dprayers  Savitri
