ithi idham keerthaneeyasya keSavasya

mahaathmanah

naamnaam

sahasram dhivyAnaam asesheNa prakeerthitam

 

Thus the thousand

divine names of Kesava the supreme Lord , the Self of all,

has been sung.

 

ya idham SrNuyaath nihyam yaSchaapi

parikeerthayeth

naaSubham

praapnuyaath kinchit soamuthreha ca maanavaH

 

One who hears this

everyday and one who sings it will never have anything inausopicious happening

to him either in this world orthe next.

 

vedaantha-go braahmaNah syaat kshathriyo

vijayee bhaveth

vaiSyo dhana

samrddhah syaat SudraH sukham avaapnuyaath

 

This sloka describes the

fruits that will accrue to the people belonging to all the four varnas through

the sahsaranama. The Brahmins will be well versed in Vedas and vedantha. The

kshathriyas will be victorious,the vaisya will be rich and the sudras will get

all comfort and happiness. Thus people of each varna will get fulfillment of

their svadharma and enjoy good fortune. By this it is obvious that

Vishnusahsaranama is not restricted to any varna nor only to men.

 

 

dharmaarThee praapnuyaaddharmam

arThaarThee cha arTham aapnuyaath

kaamaanavaapnuyaath

kaamee prajarThee cha aapnuyaaath prajaaH

 

One

who aspires for dharma will get it and on who wishes for wealth will acquire

it. Those who wish for sensual pleasures will get them and those who wish for

progeny will get their wishes fuilfilled.

 

Here

it should be noted that arTha and kama will be fruitful only if they are in

accordance with dharma.

 

 

bhaktimaan yah sadhotthAya Sucisthadhgatha

maanasaH

sahasram

vaaasudevasya naamnaamethath prakeerthayeth

 

A

devotee who always gets early in the morning , purified in body and mind

concentratred on the Lord, chants this thpousand namas of the Lord Vasudeva,

 

yaSah praapnoti vipulam jnaathi

praadhaanyameva ca

acalaam Sriyamaapnoti Sreyah praapnothyanutthamam

 

 

acquires wide

fame and becomes prominent among relatives, gets unshakeable wealth,and obtains

unparalleled glory,

 

na bhayam kvacitaapnothi veeryam thejaScha

vindhati

bhavathyarogo dyuthimAn balaroopaguNanvithah

 

 

never

experiences fear , attains valour and power, becomes free from illhealth and is

endowed with strength , good form and virtues.

 

rogaartho muchyathe rogaadhbaddho muchyetha

bandhanaath

bhayaanmuchyetha

bheethasthu muchyeth aapaanna aapadhaH

 

Those

suffering from diseases will become cured, those in bondage are freed from it,

thse who are in fear become fearless and those in diffeculties get rid of them.

 

durgaaNyathitharathyaaSu purushah

purushotthamam

sthuvannaamasahasreNa

nithyam bhakti samanvitah

 

One

who worships the Supreme Lord by chanting the thousand names everyday with

devotion crosses over his difficulties quickly.

 

 

vaasudevaaSrayo marthyo vaasudheva

paraayaNaH

sarvapaapaviSuddhaatmaa yaathi brahma

sanaathanam

 

The man who

resorts to Lord Vasudeva fixing Him as his goal, is purified of all sins and

attains the eternal Brahman

 

 

 

na vaasudhevabhakthaanaam aSubham

vidhyate kvacith

janmamrthyujaraavyaadhibhayam

vaapyupajaayathe

 

Nothing

bad happens to the devotees of Vasudeva nor do they have fear from birth, death

, old age and disease.

 

imam sthavamaaDheeyAnah

Sraddhaabhakthisamanvithah

yujyethaathmasukhakshaanthih

Sreedhrthismrthikeerthibhih

 

The

one who learns this hymn and chants it with devotion and faith will acquire the

bliss of the Self, forbearance, wealth, great memory and fame.

 

na krodho na cha maathsaryam na lobho

naaSubhaa mathih

bhavanti krtha

puNyaaNaam bhakthaanaam purushotthame

 

Neither

anger nor jealousy nor greed nor bad thoughts enter the minds of the devotees

of the Supreme Lord and who have acquiered merit due to good deeds.

 

dyouH sa-chandhraarka nakshatraa kham

dhiSo bhooh mahodhaDhiH

vaasudevasya

veeryeNa vidhrthaani mahaathmanaH

 

 

The

heaven, moon , sun and the stars,the sky, the directions , the earth and the

great sea , all thes e are supported by the power eof Vasudeva.

 

sa-suraasura-gandharvam sa-yakshoraga-raakshasam

 

jagad-vaSe

varthathedam krshNasya sa-charaacharam

 

This

universe with devas and asuras, gandharvas, yakshas and rakshasas is under the

control of Lord Krishna.

 

indriyaaNi mano budDhih satthvam thejo

balam dhrthiH

vaasudevaathmakaanyaahuH

kshethram kshethrajna eva cha

 

The

senses, mind , intellect, existence, power, strength and fortitude along with

the body, which is known as Kshthra and thew self, kshethrajna,all have Vasdeva

as their inner self.

 

 

 

sarvaagamaanaamaachaarah prathamam

parikalpyate

aacaara

prabhavo dharmo dharmasya prabhur-acyuthah

 

In

all Vedas good conduct is held as the

foremost and dharma is the origin of good conf duct and Lord Achyutha is the

origin of dharma.

 

rshayah pitharo dhevaah mahaabhoothaani

dhaathavah

jangamaajangamam

cha idham jagat naaraayaNodhbhavam

 

The

rshis, pitrs, devas, the five gross elements and the parts of the body,

moveables and immoveables of this universe have originated from Lord Naryana.

 

yogo jnaanam thaThA saankhyam vidhyaah

Silpaadhikarma cha

vedhaah

SasthraaNi vijnaanam ethath sarvam janaardhanaath

 

Yoga,

wisdom, sankhya, learning, the arts like sculpture , the Vedas, the sastras and

their application, all sprng from the Lord Janardana.

 

eko vishNurmahadhbootham prThakbhootaanyanekaSah

 

threenlokaan

vyaapya bhoothaathmaa bhunkthe viSvabhuk avyayah

 

Lord

Vishnu is the great Being who pervades all the three worlds, and also being the

inner self of all beings whci are separate and various.

 

imam sthavam bhagavatho vishNorvyaasena

keerthitham

paTedhya-iccheth

purushah Sreyah praapthum sukhAni cha

 

The

man who wishes to get glory and the happiness should read this hymn of the Lord

Vishnu which was said by sage Vyasa.

 

viSveSvaram ajam devam jagathah

prabhavaapyayam

bhajanti ye

pushkaraaksham na the yaanthi paraabhavam

 

 

Those

who worship the lotus-eyed Lord of the

Universe, who is unborn and immutable and who is the origin and the end of the
