Namaste! There are eight types of siddhis which practitioners of bhakti may get.  Seers and scholars alike recommend not using them for personal gains.  Swami Rama has narrated a story of using siddhi.

In his youth, Swami Rama was searching for people who can perform miracles.  He came across a person (whom he called Haji) living in India. At his request Haji instantly brought exotic restaurant food from England and Germany for the young Swami for a cost.  Haji even got the swami a watch without him wanting one!

Swami Rama subsequently met a salesman who sold sewing machines in Delhi and told him about Haji.  The salesman was excited to meet Haji and if convinced wanted to be his disciple.  Both of them went to Haji.  The salesmen asked Haji if he could get a Singer sewing machine (during those days, they were rare in India) from the store he worked.  To the surprise of both, Haji brought a genuine Singer machine.

On seeing the sewing machine the salesman was both excited and worried that he might get into trouble.  He requested Haji to send it back to the store, but Haji could not do so.  Haji had lost his siddhi because he had used it for unsanctioned fraudulent purposes.

The salesman returned to Delhi with the sewing machine with the intention of returning it.  In the meantime the store found the machine missing and reported the loss to the police.  When the salesman appeared with the machine, the police caught him with it.  No one believed the Haji's siddhi story, and the salesman was punished.  Obviously, that was not a wise use of the siddhi which Haji had.
