Dear Jayashankar and others,

 

I do believe that any information we have should be disseminated to others, specially

the message of Geetha. But it should not misguide people. Especially people who

are in the beginning stage of learning a very difficult subject like the

message of Geetha. That is the reason I write this note.

 

I don't think the interpretations given here are correct and

with good intentions. These interpretations of Geetha are far below the

standard of that of any I have seen including our own Sarojaji. There are lots

of Geetha interpretations available in book form. The best I have found are by Chinmayanada

Swami, Nataraja Guru, Guru Nitya Chaithanya Yathi, Swami Gambhirananda or Prof.

G. Balakrishnan Nair or any other spiritual Masters of ours, which can guide us

in the study of Geetha. For beginners the best one I fond is by ChinmayAnanda

Swami titled “Geeta for Childrenâ€. (Don’t be skeptics because of the name. The

word Children could easily be replaced by beginners.) Another one, good for beginners

is one by Guru Nitya Chaithanya Yeti, which is the form of dialogue between two

brothers. But these interpretations given here, in this site can mislead the people

and I strongly believe that it is done intentionally. When we take it

MahAbhAratham knows that PAnchAli was not the perfect person and she is bound

to make mistakes. It is not Suyodhanan, it is Duryodhanan. The interpretation

is trying to change the basic characteristics of the evil and make him the good

character. It is the same as blaming Shree Raman for killing RAvaNan and Shree

for killing Kamsan. PAnchAli is not just a Veettukari, She is the Queen. Rajasooyam

was a necessity of that time. Equating that to the present day wedding is

wrong. Interpreting the spirituality of bhAratham with a measuring gauge of

present day Communism is very much wrong. All these negative characterization

of the pANdavAs and the events in there will definitely affect us and our

spirituality in a very negative way.

 

Here I see the use of the political tool of ‘destruction

from with in’. It is a widely used political tool, getting into a system and

destroying it from within. A lot of the so-called ideologists, present and

past, from the east and the west also did this.

 

Geetha, is a nara

nArAyana samvAdam, (A Guru Shishya discussion and it is a learning process) not

a political debate to see who is better. It is not a debate to win, it is

discussion to learn and teach. So I don’t think this is the correct way of

interpreting Geetha and it is not the correct way of learning Geetha either. We

have many genuine spiritual Masters to learn it from. In my opinion these interpretations

are very much tainted with communist ideology and secularist methodology and

that is never to be followed. It can misguide the people who are trying to learn

Geetha, specially the beginners. Communists have painted a very tainted picture

of Shree Chattambi Swamikal and Shree Narayana Gurudevan for their own benefits

and the followers of both of them did not question this in the way it should

have been done. And even some of them encouraged it. I feel this is the same, trying

to use Geetha for political purpose. I am not saying other political parties

did not use those two spiritual masters and our spirituality for political benefits.

They all did and still continuing to use. Until the politicians are out of our Temples they will keep on

doing this, because none of the value our spirituality as the Kings used to. I

see this interpretation as a political tool. So I request all to be careful in

selecting the correct interpretation to learn the message of Geetha.

He follows the Advaitha - vedantha tradition of explaining scriptures using authentic texts. (I know, some people think that Advaitha itself is blasphemy!). I do believe that any information we have should be disseminated to others, specially

the message of Geetha. But it should not misguide people. Especially people who

are in the beginning stage of learning a very difficult subject like the

message of Geetha. That is the reason I write this note.

standard of that of any I have seen including our own Sarojaji. There are lots

of Geetha interpretations available in book form. The best I have found are by Chinmayanada

Swami, Nataraja Guru, Guru Nitya Chaithanya Yathi, Swami Gambhirananda or Prof.

G. Balakrishnan Nair or any other spiritual Masters of ours, which can guide us

in the study of Geetha. For beginners the best one I fond is by ChinmayAnanda

Swami titled “Geeta for Childrenâ€. (Don’t be skeptics because of the name. The

word Children could easily be replaced by beginners.) Another one, good for beginners

is one by Guru Nitya Chaithanya Yeti, which is the form of dialogue between two

Geetha, specially the beginners. Communists have painted a very tainted picture

of Shree Chattambi Swamikal and Shree Narayana Gurudevan for their own benefits

and the followers of both of them did not question this in the way it should

have been done. And even some of them encouraged it. I feel this is the same, trying

to use Geetha for political purpose. I am not saying other political parties

did not use those two spiritual masters and our spirituality for political benefits.

They all did and still continuing to use. Until the politicians are out of our Temples they will keep on

doing this, because none of the value our spirituality as the Kings used to. I

see this interpretation as a political tool. So I request all to be careful in

selecting the correct interpretation to learn the message of Geetha.

Turavoor Vishambharan on Amrita TV at 8:30 to 9 AM on weekdays. And you can

also hear the best Malayalam and English available on Malayalam TV from him.

Dear Sukumarji and others,

 

The part of the lecture in question which was attached to my

comments is what I referred to. They are not at all appropriate. Trying to

establish that jealousy was the reason for that war is not just wrong, it is

clear intentional misleading. The war was inevitable because the Kawravar ware

the personification of evil and Duryodhanan is definitely Duryodhanan not

Suyodhanan, not even a bit. PAnchAli is not a Veettukari she is the queen, a

king should be leaving in a palace not in a vAsasthalam and there is no

comparison between Rajasooyam and expensive wedding. These kinds of

interpretations, (which I received through Guruvayur group), is very much

misleading, especially to the people who are into bhakthi maargam and beginners

in learning Geetha. This person who did the interpretation was an active

communist as per his own admission and his remarks in the part in reference are

very much in line with the communists’ interpretation of our spirituality and

that is what I pointed out. If such interpretations are given to the people who

are trying to learn Geetha, they will definitely get misguided. That is why I

wrote the remarks just to point out the facts.

 

Of course he is a very good orator and good orators can

always impress people. May be people who are intellectuals and people who are

on the upper end of jnAnamArgam may be able to analyze what he say and accept

what they need and reject the rest. But a beginner can not do that and so they

should be directed towards the source of correct interpretations.

 

Yes, people can have different views, but using the present

day communist and secular gages to measure the standards of the time of MahAbhAratham

and its contents is wrong. And when he says that the war was due to the wrong

doings of PANdavAs, it is not a different view, it is wrongful accusation

which can not be accepted. When he says the war was due to the wrong doings

of PANdavAs, I think it is as good as saying it is the wrong doings of Shree Krishnan

Him Self. That is also wrongful accusation which can not be accepted at all.

As a strong believer of our spirituality, I strongly feel that it is my duty, to

try to help others to learn it correctly. And when it comes to Bhagwad Geetha

it is more important to me as Geetha is my life inspiration and BhagwAn Shree

Krishnan is my hero and Guru.

 

May be a lot of intellectuals have appreciated his lectures.

However it doesn’t mean that what he said in the part I reproduced or in any

other part are correct. Even Sukumarji did not say any thing about the points I

have raised. I don’t think we should be accepting what ever some one says because

some eminent people in the socio-cultural fields appreciated and supported the

person who made the statements. If we go back in our history, we can see that

we did this mistake a lot of times before and due to these kinds of

dispassionate carefree attitude we had been at the receiving end a lot. So we

must have the courage to say what we feel as right or wrong and events and

things the way we see it.

 

I know, the words of some one so small like me may not carry

much weight, but if my efforts direct one person in the correct direction of

learning the message of Geetha, I am satisfied.

 

Long back, (about 150 years back) when the christian

missionaries were evangelizing, in northern part of bhAratham, Swamy DayAnanada

Saraswathi opposed it. Then in early 1900s Chattambi Swamikal and Shree

Narayana Gurudevan did the same in Keralam, but not too many of others followed

it up. Even the services of those two spiritual Masters has been shown in a

very different light and even their teachings were misused for aiding

conversion and communism. How many MalayAlees Know that Chattampi Swamikal

wrote a book against Conversion and Shree Narayana Gurudevan prevented conversions

and reconverted people back. If those two were not there we might have been

going to church now, not to Temple.

 

My comments were just trying to do my part in helping people

correctly understand the message of Geetha. If it hurts any one in any way I am

really sorry for that.

 

I think there is no point in continuing this discussion as

the point I want to bring out has been done, so let us stop this discussion

here. I did my part, I said what I have to say, the readers can do as they

He follows the Advaitha - vedantha tradition of explaining scriptures using authentic texts. (I know, some people think that Advaitha itself is blasphemy!). I do believe that any information we have should be disseminated to others, specially

the message of Geetha. But it should not misguide people. Especially people who

are in the beginning stage of learning a very difficult subject like the

of Geetha interpretations available in book form. The best I have found are by Chinmayanada

Swami, Nataraja Guru, Guru Nitya Chaithanya Yathi, Swami Gambhirananda or Prof.

G. Balakrishnan Nair or any other spiritual Masters of ours, which can guide us

in the study of Geetha. For beginners the best one I fond is by ChinmayAnanda

Swami titled “Geeta for Childrenâ€. (Don’t be skeptics because of the name. The

word Children could easily be replaced by beginners.) Another one, good for beginners

is one by Guru Nitya Chaithanya Yeti, which is the form of dialogue between two

brothers. But these interpretations given here, in this site can mislead the people

and I strongly believe that it is done intentionally. When we take it

consideration the background of the person interpreting, that believes even

gets stronger.

(One of his interpretations is given bellow.) Here the Paadvaas

are blamed for the war. It terms Maayan’s construction of Indraprastham as a

bribe. (It is similar to interpreting Killing of RAvaNan as an act of terrorism.)

Is it a bribe or expressing his gratitude for saving his life? A capital of a

country is where the King lives and the house where He lives is not just a vAsasthalam

it is a palace, from where the administration of the country is also conducted.

The capital and the palace should be treated as such and The King should not

live in an ordinary vAsasthalam. Jealousy is not the cause of MahAbhAratham

war. It was the war between the good and evil and Indraprastham was not a cause

either. The war was inevitable because the Kawravar are the personification of

evil. Yes, PAnchAli should not have laughed. Then any one who studies

MahAbhAratham knows that PAnchAli was not the perfect person and she is bound

to make mistakes. It is not Suyodhanan, it is Duryodhanan. The interpretation

is trying to change the basic characteristics of the evil and make him the good

character. It is the same as blaming Shree Raman for killing RAvaNan and Shree

for killing Kamsan. PAnchAli is not just a Veettukari, She is the Queen. Rajasooyam

was a necessity of that time. Equating that to the present day wedding is

wrong. Interpreting the spirituality of bhAratham with a measuring gauge of

present day Communism is very much wrong. All these negative characterization

of the pANdavAs and the events in there will definitely affect us and our

spirituality in a very negative way.

 

Here I see the use of the political tool of ‘destruction

from with in’. It is a widely used political tool, getting into a system and

destroying it from within. A lot of the so-called ideologists, present and

past, from the east and the west also did this.

Geetha, is a nara nArAyana samvAdam, (A Guru Shishya discussion and it is a learning process) not

a political debate to see who is better. It is not a debate to win, it is

discussion to learn and teach. So I don’t think this is the correct way of

interpreting Geetha and it is not the correct way of learning Geetha either. We

have many genuine spiritual Masters to learn it from. In my opinion these interpretations

are very much tainted with communist ideology and secularist methodology and

that is never to be followed. It can misguide the people who are trying to learn

Geetha, specially the beginners. Communists have painted a very tainted picture

of Shree Chattambi Swamikal and Shree Narayana Gurudevan for their own benefits

and the followers of both of them did not question this in the way it should

have been done. And even some of them encouraged it. I feel this is the same, trying

to use Geetha for political purpose. I am not saying other political parties

did not use those two spiritual masters and our spirituality for political benefits.

They all did and still continuing to use. Until the politicians are out of our Temples they will keep on

doing this, because none of the value our spirituality as the Kings used to. I

see this interpretation as a political tool. So I request all to be careful in

selecting the correct interpretation to learn the message of Geetha.

The best Geetha interpretation available now on TV is by Prof

Turavoor Vishambharan on Amrita TV at 8:30 to 9 AM on weekdays. And you can

also hear the best Malayalam and English available on Malayalam TV from him.
