Guest guest
Namaste! When the Devas were cursed by Sage Durvasas to get old, they approached Lord Vishnu for help. On His recommendation and with His help they churned the ocean of milk and obtained amrutam which helped them to regain their lost youth. Similarly there are several stories in our Puranaas of the Lord rescuing Devas from their troubles. Generally only when they get into trouble the Devas approach the Lord. Once they are rid of the problems Devas are engrossed in sensual pleasures. The Asuras on the other hand seek the Lord only with destructive or evil intentions. The penance performed by Hiranyakasipu, Ravana or Bhasmasura were quite severe and in many instances unparalleled. But, their objectives were not honorable and is not to be emulated. For human beings, when a calamity befalls upon them, they pray. Some of them turn to spiritual paths when they lose a dear one. A crisis caused due to loss of health or wealth might make humans turn them to spirituality. Once they are in the spiritual path they may continue to advance along that track. Devas on the other hand are known to be fully immersed in sensual pleasures. For this reason it is said that birth as a human is rare and is a path to salvation. Let us pray that we all are blessed to be on that path for spiritual advancement! Hari Aum! Chith Puram
Guest guest
Hari-Om Very well said, Chith Puramji. But is not a case of Paalam kadakkuvolom Narayana, Paalam kadannaal koorayana ? My view is that When Jagadiswara created humans He wanted to create a specimen that was different from the Devas and Asuras but at the same time a combination of their characteristics. So humans have the qualities of both Devas as well as Asuras. God also gavae humans the choice to adopt either or both of the qualities of ( Devas and Asuras ). God also made sure that human possessed the best brain that is capable of challenging HIS own creativity. God also provided human the Handbook on Survival, the Bhagavad Gita. Having provided such outfits God expected humans to choose the path of dharma and serve Him and assist Him in making the world a peaceful place for the man to live. But alas! the very human turned out to be the Prodigal Son. He cast away the Holy Book, prefered not to learn the lessons taught by the Kurukshetra War and at the cross roads, took the road to destruction instead of the BHAKTIMARG. Born out of greed and selfishness, man created religions and using it as a tool, started fighting for supremacy and power. It became a no win win situation. He bit the hands that fed him. He killed the mother cow that gave him milk, and ate its flesh as well. A very few who turned away from this mad house took the spiritual path but those few are still the minority but still God's beloved bhaktas. Let's hope the Prodigal sons realise their folly and return to the GODHEAD. WE can only pray to the almighty, Bhagvn Sree Krishna ! jai shree krishna ! Guest guest
Dear all. As a rejoinder to Dr. Chitrabhanuji's write-up, let us remember, അനനàµà´¯à´¾à´¸àµà´šà´¿à´¨àµà´¤à´¯à´¨àµà´¤àµ‹ മാം യെ ജനാ: പരàµà´¯àµà´ªà´¾à´¸à´¤àµ† തെഷാം നിതàµà´¯à´¾à´à´¿à´¯àµà´•àµà´¤à´¾à´¨à´¾à´‚ യോഗകàµà´·àµ‡à´®à´‚ വഹാമàµà´¯à´¹à´‚ (à´à´—വതàµà´—ീത)     . The Lord has promised to take care of the entire welfare of those whose minds are always with Him with one-pointed attention.  If we call to the Lord only in emergencies, will He come to our rescue?  . He is like the family doctor who will come home and take care of our health only if we go to him for all sicknesses.  If we go to some other doctor when there is no emergency and call the family doctor only for home visit on emergency, he may not come also. When Pandavas were invited for playing dice by the Kauravas, especially by Sakuni who was playing on behalf of the Kauravas, even a person like Dharmaputra did not think of Lord Krishna who was the saviour of the Pandavas at all times.  When they played and lost everything including Draupadi, and when Draupadi was disrobed, at that time only it struck even Draupadi to think of Lord Krishna.  Even there, she made the mistake of addressing Krishna as " Dwaraka-vasa " .  With all that, the ever compassionate Lord did come to her rescue and save her from getting totally disrobed and getting insulted.  For her, while being physically dragged to the Kaurava court and insulted, every second looked like a Yuga, and every second's delay in Krishna's arrival caused her unlimited anxiety.  Even there, when Draupadi asked Lord Krishna, " O Lord, I had been calling You for such a long time, why did you come so late? " ,  Krishna said, " You called me as " Dwaraka-vasa " , so I had to come all the way from Dwaraka.  Does it not take time? " . When He is present all the time in our own hearts, the " ഹൃദയ-à´ªàµà´¨àµà´§à´°àµ€à´•à´‚ " , why should we go elsewhere in search of Him, especially in an emergency situation? Loving regards KVG.
