Adhyathma Ramayana

Adhyathma Ramayana is an ancient work in Sanskrit found in

Brahmandapurana and

Supposed to be composed by

Vedavyasa. It contains the philosophical significance of Ramavathara and in the

form of diologue between Siva and Parvati. The work abounds in jnana and

bhakthi.

Once Parvati wished to know the real nature of Rama avathara and asked Siva who told her about it in detail and this is known as Adhyathma

Ramayana. There are various benefits recounted on reading this work. Brahma told

about this to Narada which was in turn propagated by Sootha pouranika in the

world.

This work has two important

sections , namely, sreeramahrdhayam and sreeramagita. The first occurs in the Balakanda,

first adhyaya and was supposed to have been told to Hanuman by Seetha devi and the latter

was told by Rama to Lakshmana in uttarkanda. To read the Sreeramahrdhayam three

times in the sannidhi of Hanuman is supposed to result in the fulfillment of

all wishes.

We shall now enjoy the nectar of

the words of Lord Siva to Parvathi in

the form of Adhyathma Ramayana.

Today is the Ekadasi and it is meritorious

to read or talk on the Adhyathma Ramayana on Ekadasi which is equivalent to

chanting Gayatri on Sreerama navami. So with the grace of Sreerama and Anjaneya

I start this today and we shall see the wonderful significance of Ramavathara

through the study of this work.

I shall give importance to the

philosophical impact of the story rather than the story itself except where it

differs from Valmiki Ramayana.
