Guest guest
Respected Nairji , I too remember this poem which I would have studied in my school days beore three decades. If my memmory is correct, this poem was written by the Great Kodungalloor Kunjikuttan Thampuran and the Lines I learned seems to be like this : " VELUKKUMPOL KULIKKANAM VELUTHTHULLATHUTUKKANAM VELUPPIL KSHETHRA DIAVATHE ELUPPAM THOZHUTHETHANAM " I don't remember the presence of an elephant no where in these lines which was not affordable to common man in those days . The poem is written for children's daily routine Titled " KUTTIKALUDE DINACHARYA " . It starts like this : PULARUM MUMPUNARANAM , UNARNNAL ETTIRIKKANAM UNARNNAL KANNATACHULLIL PARADIVATHEYORKKANAM AMMAYE KAANUM MUMPIL ACHANE THOZHUTHEETANAM ACHCHANAMMAMAR KANUNNA DIVAMANENNUMORKKANAM I am really sorry to inform that the remaining lines do not come to my memmory now . I hope some contemporary members who remember these lines fully may help in this regard. Gopalakrishnan
