Guest guest
Please sign this petition http://fleischverbot.info/petition/ Animals have nervous system and suffer pain. None of us would eat our pets but eat meat? Though it is logical that eating meat should be stopped for the welfare of animals and ecology, 80% of the world population eats meat. The only way to stop this is to have international law banning killing animals for food, dress etc. Please sign the petition and invite others to do so. Please let me know if you would like to understand why this is important. Killing animals for meat is dangerous for the ecology and if we do not act now, a global ecological disaster of seismic proportion will emerge within the next few years. According to the FAO, the agricultural livestock industry produces more greenhouse gases than the use of petrol for cars, trucks and other transportation.- Livestock industry uses 70% of the world’s agricultural surface, including 33% of agricultural land used for planting animal feed.- Agricultural animal farming leads to deforestation to make way for new pastures and it leads to devastating, widely prevalent soil deterioration caused by over overgrazing, soil compaction and erosion.- Agricultural livestock raising is the number one threat for the ever decreasing world water resources. An enormous amount of water is used toproduce the feed for livestock animals.- Livestock animals eat more protein than they produce. For every 1 kg of animal protein produced, animals consume on average 6 kg of plant protein,in the form of cereal and green fodder.- It takes about 20,000 – 40,000 litres of water to produce 1 kg of beef and approximately 900 litres to produce 1 kg of wheat.- Every day millions of animals are killed globally for the unhealthy consumption of meat.- A child dies of hunger every 2-3 seconds. The 760 million tons of grain that is consumed yearly by farm animals worldwide would be enough to coverthe worldwide food shortage 14 times. It is the responsibility of the government to safeguard its citizens, the animals and this would be warranted by the ban of meat. Please sign our petition. Without you, things will not change and without your help they will not change fast enough. Every signature counts! If yousupport a legal ban of meat, sign here. The petition will be delivered to governments in Europe (and other countries of the world). Thanks for your help and best wishes!
Guest guest
Hari-Om It is a bright idea and the points raised are valid and important. However it is an impossible dream. Signing a petition will not move the nations to pass a law making meat-eating a crime. It will not work even in India where majority are vegetarians. Besides the people who are custodians of such a law (if any) eat only chicken biriyni and hamburgers and bacon and ham. Talk about it to any person in any country and they will ask : Are you insane ? Take for example Africa. The entire popultion of that continent are meat-eaters:(they eat almost anything that moves ) the only exception was Dr Kenneth Kaunda , the former president of Zambia who became a vegetarian by preference. He had personal reasons for that. The others are not more than a hundred. So is the case in China, japan, Korea, Europe, Australia and so on. THhe population of bisons (wild bufflo ) in North America beginning of the century was more than 50 million and now it is just about 30,000; all killed for food. OLD HABITS DIE HARD. Peopless' eating habits are difficult to control. It can hppen only by resollve nd will power. Not by force of Law. jai shree krishna ! Guest guest
Dear Sri Achuthan Nair, There were no laws to protect animals 100 years back but now things have changed. For example, it is required by law in many European countries that animals be made unconscious before killing. There are laws that require proper medical treatment to animals while living. This petition has been started not in India but in Germany where practically everyone eats meat, that too less cooked than India. 10 - 20% of the world population are vegaterians and no sane man can take the stand that it is okay to be cruel to animals or destroy the ecosystem. It is impossible to raise mass consciousness to the level of ahimsa. Just 100 years back, there were debates whether black slavery should be abolished and it was achieved through campaigns and law. We need to dedicate ourselves to a relentless campaign to protect the animals from slaughter. Please participate and let me know how I can help you in preparing yourself for this. If you dont join the good forces, you are inadvertently helping the bad forces. Animal slaughter industry is worth few hundred billions of dollars and they cannot be convinced through reason but by law. Best Regards Rajaram V.
